Barkers Engineering Ltd (trading as Barkers Fencing Ltd) has a heritage dating back to 1861. Initially engineering equipment for the mines and coal fields that had sprung up following the Industrial Revolution, the company has evolved (as the mining industry declined in the1980's) and began manufacturing palisade fencing and railing, before specialising in high security fencing and gates.

**Key Aims**
- Maintain an exceptional level of Health & Safety compliance
- Ensure all processes adhere to current ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 standards
- Facilitate the effective delivery of all production processes
- Improve quality and productivity with a ‘hands on’ approach
- Lead and develop staff inclusively
- This role will is in the Fabrication (Works) division of our business, supporting the Fabrication Manager.
- The key duties are as follows:

- Ensure all employees use safe working practices at all times
- Work with manager to assess and maintain all scheduled H&S activities
- Implement H&S improvements as appropriate
- Identify and report all H&S issues in a timely manner
- Increase and promote awareness of H&S within the department
- Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times
- Ensure all new starters are fully inducted and trained for the required tasks
- Ensure all operatives are following appropriate Safe Standards Of Working
- Ensure required quality standards are maintained
- Implement and maintain appropriate welding standards
- Ensure all quality checks are carried out and recorded correctly
- Develop, implement & maintain productivity KPI’s with the team
- Regularly review production performance with team members
- Seek and implement best practice for production processes
- Manage department schedule and production plan
- Effectively manage manning levels to achieve required output
- Collate and report department performance
- Understand the changing needs of staff
- Identify appropriate development and training for direct reports
- Report all maintenance issues in a timely manner
- Liaising with staff in other departments as required
- Attending meetings as required

**Person Specification**

**Essential**
- 3 GCSEs or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics
- At least three years in a similar role
- Excellent people skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software
- Resourceful and proactive approach to problem solving
- Ability to organise, multitask and prioritise
- Good standard of numeracy and literacy
- Good communicator
- Calm demeanour
- Results driven
- Team player
- Self-awareness
- Flexible and willing to adjust to change

**Desirable**
- Level 3 or above supervisory qualification
- Experience of ERP software

**Salary**: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
