To be responsible for the day-to-day organisational management and supervision of the clinical physiologists, including the delegation of duties and the management of all patient activity whilst ensuring that effective time management for the delivery of in-patient and out-patient diagnostic services is maintained.

To be responsible for the delivery of teaching, supervision, training and assessment of all physiology staff, promote continual professional development and promote safe evidence based practice.

To support the Cardio Respiratory operational management team in the development of protocols and procedural guidelines to ensure compliance with Trust/Operational requirements and recognised professional safe practice.

1.1 To ensure that that yearly appraisals, physiology competencies and professional registration is maintained as part of the annual appraisal process.

1.2 To exercise budgetary responsibility in line with Trust policies.

1.3 To supervise the management and maintenance of all clinical physiology equipment and software acting as the department’s physiology equipment lead.

1.4 To ensure that the service is compliant to all relevant national standards and that clinical governance reporting and assurances are provided as required.

1.5 To take the lead and manage all clinical physiology specific complaints and adverse incidents.

1.6 To ensure that all physiologists perform comprehensive and high quality echocardiograms, ensuring that the British Society of Echocardiography guidelines are maintained, and all staff are kept up-to-date with new clinical or technical practices.

1.7 Work in other areas of clinical physiology as required, performing highly specialist complex investigations and to supervise, analyse and interpret a wide range of procedures autonomously.

1.8 To provide orientation package and induction for all newly appointed physiologists.
