**Job Overview**:
Working with the site Management Team to promote Health and Safety on site and to co-ordinate accident prevention and Health and Safety measures.

To advise on safety matters, to enforce preventative measures, and to organize and co-ordinate training.

To investigate incidents and accidents to improve overall safety.

To ensure that the site is compliant with environmental regulations and standards relating to our operating license.

To attend calls with, and to maintain documents for, calls with Group alongside General Manager.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Site Safety**
- Conduct daily site walks to assess housekeeping and to identify potential hazards as well as observing behavior and sharing your findings with relevant Department Managers.
- Coach and mentor staff to improve safety awareness on site, to produce and deliver toolbox talks when required.
- Carry out and record site inspections, to complete internal audits and support in external audits as required.
- To assess site against all regulations in relation to Health & Safety legislation and to maintain a tracker to highlight due dates.
- To organise and co-ordinate training and to maintain accurate training records to ensure compliance with certifications remain current (e.g. FA certs, forklift licenses).
- Ensure HSE information on all notice boards is kept relevant and in date.
- Maintain the Site Risk Tracker and liaise with Engineering regarding updates.
- Work with Engineering to ensure statutory inspections are conducted on time and in date, ensuring reports are returned and recommendations are actioned.
- Working with the site team support in carrying out, reviewing, and updating site risk assessments and to maintain a tracker.
- Ensure internal racking inspections are completed, logged, and parts ordered as required.
- Conduct fire drills and keep fire records up to date ensuring quarterly fire extinguisher and call point services are conducted.
- Keep up to date with legislative changes and ensuring any relevant information is passed on to the correct members of the team.
- Maintain the sites Health & Safety policy reviewing as necessary.
- To complete the H&S element of inductions for new starters.
- Carry out and chair H&S Committee meetings.

**Site Health**

**-**Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses. Carry out and be accountable for ensuring corrective actions are put into place, keep records of the incident, update information as required. Report accidents where subsequent claims may be made through to accounts (for your insurers).
- Report RIDDOR reportable accidents to the HSE.
- Liaise with HR regard Occupational Health annual assessments and ad hoc assessments as required and any other occupational health assessments that may arise. Maintain a tracker to ensure compliance with regulations.

**-**Face fit test employees as required.

**-**Carry out DSE Assessments as required.

**-**Control and review PPE and PPE requests.

**Environmental**
- Monitor site EMS system in factory and records on site server.
- Collate waste records for future submissions.
- Conduct monthly visual stacks assessments and olfactory assessments.
- Collate and submit bi-annual packaging regs submissions to our packaging compliance partners.
- Upcoming:_ ISO14001, work with group to obtain certification.

**Contractors**
- Contractor controls: work with Engineering and office staff to ensure permits to work, sign in, induction and other contractor controls are carried out.
- Retain and audit permit to workbook.
- Ensure all contractors are approved and review RAMS prior to contractor works.

**Group Interaction**
- Weekly H&S call with other Group HSE representatives and completion of a Group document.
- Monthly Risk Tracker call with GM and Engineering Manager.
- Quarterly Sustainability Project call with GM and Engineering Manager.
- To complete any reports or supply data when requested.
- Carry out weekly and month end accident information reporting via KPI portal and Group templates.

**Personal Competencies and Qualifications**:

- NEBOSH Certificate - essential
- IOSH Managing Safely
- COSHH and HACCP awareness
- Strong communicator and the ability to positively influence others.
- Time management - able to prioritise work based on importance/impact to the wider site.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel
