We are currently looking to appoint an administrator to provide essential support to the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
You will be responsible for completing wide variety of tasks as well as dealing with the public. Strong IT literacy is mandatory as there are several IT systems in use. You will need to be numerate, able to maintain data spreadsheets and trackers, and input data accurately into a variety of systems. The role also involves using patient appointment systems and capacity management tools.
The ability to prioritise your duties whilst paying attention to detail at all times is important as the service is highly audited against national QA standards. Knowledge of NHS systems would also be beneficial.
Awareness of the Bowel Cancer Screening patient pathways would be an advantage but you will need to be willing to learn the pathway processes and standards in order to fulfil this role, including the importance of both internal and external communication processes which support patient referrals and care
To provide general administrative support for the running of the Bowel Cancer Screening Centre - ensuring all paperwork, patient packs and health promotion leaflets are available as required.
To ensure that all BCS patients are booked in a timely manner and the paper diary is updated accordingly and to ensure that any breaches are highlighted to the Team Leader immediately.
To ensure that ALL SSP appointments on Open Exeter are booked in a timely manner.
To liaise with the SSP’s and ensure that slots for the SSP clinics are set up in a timely fashion.
To make alternative arrangements if clinics need to be cancelled at short notice and ensure that this is escalated through the appropriate channels.
To ensure that all patient details are added to the hospital patient administration systems to ensure notes and clinics are set up efficiently and to comply with the Trust policy.
To ensure that the administrative requirements for the colonoscopy lists are prepared according to Trust requirements.
To liaise with the SSP’s for patient follow up, and to ensure clinic appointments are booked on the hospital administration system, and that the hospital administration is updated when patients are discharged from the Programme.
To support the Bowel Screening team by collating and filing records, letters and reports in a uniformed way.
