**Medication Support Worker - Edwin House**

Framework Housing Association is the lead provider of drug and alcohol treatment within the City of Nottingham and is offering an exciting opportunity to join a team of staff in this Care Quality commission rated GOOD care setting.

Edwin House is a 43-bed CQC registered care home, for people with substance misuse issues. The vacancy involves supporting the Medications Co -Ordinator to ensure that Edwin House is compliant at all times in relation to medication policies and procedures. The Medication Support Worker will ensure the service has a fully functioning system in place, so residents do not run out of prescribed medication and stock levels are kept to a manageable quantity.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- To support the medication Co-ordinator in ensuring that all staff responsible for administrating medication are fully trained and competent to do so.
- To be a competent ‘shadow person’ for untrailed staff to learn from before being assessed themselves.
- Carry out medication audits in the absence of the medication co-ordinator once a week with support from a team leader.
- Ordering medication.
- Returning medication.
- Complete medication turn around every four weeks with the support from the medication Co-ordinator.
- To communicate clearly and effectively with the registered CQC manager.
- To gain clear oversight and understanding of 56 and 57 Edwin houses medication administration system.
- To administer medication when required on shift.
- Ensuring all maintenance of medication rooms are up to standard and any needs are reported to CQC Manager or Team leaders.

**Essential Experience**:

- Must have experience of administering medication in a care home setting.
- Knowledge of regulation around store medication in care homes.
- Knowledge of regulation around storing controlled drugs in a care home.
- Good IT skills.
- Good communication Skills.

**Desirable Experience**:

- Use of eMAR system
- CQC experience.
- Experience of ordering and booking in meds.
- Knowledge of how to complete a medication turn around.
