Large Animal Assistant

**Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary recruiting for a Large Animal Assistant (Stock Person) on a **Full Time/Permanent basis.**

**Hours of Work**:Winter - 5 x 8 hour shifts per week (7.30am to 4.00 pm) Summer - 4 x 10 hour shifts per week (7.00 am to 6.00 pm) Alternate weekends off

Assisting in providing a high standard of care to rescued horses, cattle, sheep
and pigs at the sanctuary.

**Duties to include (but not limited to)**
- Preparation of feeds & daily feed run operations
- Cleaning out of animal paddocks, enclosures and water tanks
- Closely monitoring animal health and well-being
- Maintaining safe, clean, warm and dry environments for the animals
- Moving, leading and grooming equines
- Tractor/trailer driving
- General cleaning and maintenance of equipment

**Skills/ Qualities**
- A genuine interest in animal welfare
- Animal husbandry qualification or experience of working with large animals
- Current manual driving licence
- Practical hands-on and hard-working approach to work
- Capable to carry out manual handling
- Ability to work alone and within a team
- Good communication skills
- Experience of outdoor working in all Seasons
- Excellent time-keeping and attendance to work
