Brighton, United Kingdom University of Brighton Full time

**Location**:

- Brighton - Moulsecoomb**Salary**:

- £39,347 to £46,974 pro rata**Contract Length**:

- 12 months**Closing Date**:

- Thursday 31 August 2023**Interview Date**:

- To be confirmed**Reference**:

- TE4055-23-271-R**In this project, you will be working within a University of Brighton team collaborating closely with a prestigious university in China, and within a UK consortium comprising mostly engineers and designers.**

Your role will involve you in the planning, managing, executing and/or analysing research projects (in consultation with a Principal Investigator) which investigates the local shared-values of citizen-level groups in Morecambe, North Norfolk, and Southampton, UK, and builds on those to understand their perceptions of infrastructure improvement needs in their locality. In particular, your research will develop specialist understanding of some of the processes involved in the WeValue approach to crystallise locally shared values, which can link to fields like education, sociology, social sciences, philosophy and/or health, and to wider research on interdisciplinarity and sustainability.

In order to be successful in the role you will need to have:

- You will be developing a publication record, and possibly supervising and mentoring less experienced researchers.
- You will be able to communicate effectively between civil society organisations and academics, have the ability to interact effectively and sympathetically with people from different cultures,
- and be willing and able to travel for several weeks at a time for field work.

The post is fixed-term until August 31, 2024 as funding is limited on the specified UKRI project.

It is part-time at 0.20 and will work flexible hours depending on the dynamic project requirements, which will be met collectively by 4-5 staff who will stagger and arrange complementary worktimes, agreed by the line manager. Although formally based at out Brighton, Moulsecoomb campus, you will be able to work remotely from other locations except for the field work already mentioned.

At 0.20 FTE this post would not be eligible for a UK certificate of sponsorship.

Interviews are expected to take place within two weeks of the closing date.
