The post offers experience in management of acutely unwell patients, frailty, dementia, delirium, as well as long term conditions. There will also be opportunities to lead Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and to be involved in teaching, management, and governance.

Leading the ward-based junior medical team under supervision of the Consultant.

Review and presentation of new admissions/transfers to the

Initial management of new admissions until Consultant review, and referral to other specialties as clinically indicated.

Contributing to ward MDT meetings to aid discharge

Liaising with family members, undertaking discussions about end-of-life care where necessary, and engaging with the palliative care team

Assessment of new patients in frailty same day emergency care under the supervision of consultants

Out-patient clinics

Maintenance of CPD, and the teaching and training of

Attendance and contribution to departmental teaching

Demonstration of the necessary communication skills required to support the above responsibilities, in line with GMC

Understanding of the Mental health Act as it relates to capacity decisions etc (training will also be provided as part of the induction to the trust).
