Catering Assistant

**Job Profile**

**Job Title **Catering Assistant - Bank Position (As and when required)

**Reports to **Cook / Catering Manager

**Location **Based at Men’s Hostel 19a Crawford Square.

**Key **Assist with running the day-to-day catering operation in the Hostel to
**Purpose **deliver excellent food quality services and maintain high standards of hygiene and resident satisfaction.

**Summary of main responsibilities**:
1. Contribute to the preparation and serving of meals.

2. Ensure that all food served is sufficient in quantity and quality and that it is well presented.

3. Promote and ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and hygiene of equipment in the kitchen, stores, and dining room.

4. Ensure the secure storage of all provisions.

5. Have due regard for health, safety and fire standards in the department and ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety and Health and Hygiene legislation, policies, and procedures.

6. Be alert to any possible danger either from defects in premises or equipment and bring these to the notice of the Catering Manager. In the event of any immediate danger, take appropriate action to reduce the risk of physical injury to residents or staff.

7. Adhere to and promote NWMM’s policies and procedures.

8. Undertake other duties as may reasonably be required.

11. Undertake training as necessary and attend staff meetings as requested.

12. Build and maintain effective working relationships with other members of NWMM staff, within your immediate and wider teams.

**Catering Assistant Person Specification**

**Essential Criteria**

An understanding of hygiene considerations within a catering environment.

An understanding of health and safety considerations in a catering environment.

Positive attitude with a desire to deliver an outstanding service to residents.

Ability and willingness to work unsocial hours.

**Desirable Criteria**

Six months experience in a catering or hospitality environment.

Food hygiene certificate

Catering qualification
