This is a Fixed Term Contract position for 1 year to cover a period of Maternity Leave.
**What you'll do**:

- To provide advice on legal issues affecting the insurance business and to provide solutions which enable the business to operate lawfully. As appropriate, to draft and review contractual obligations and claims related work in order to meet business objectives.To advise on all matters pertaining to the insurance business including (but not limited to) annuities, reinsurance, group protection and equity release mortgages. To lead project work, which might involve bulk purchase annuities, regulatory projects or reinsurancetreaties.
- To develop close relationships with senior management in order to ensure that the legal support needs of their part of the business are fully met
- To manage relationships with external lawyers and, in particular, manage their expectations appropriately in respect of fees and quality of work.
- To explain new legal developments to both the wider legal team and the business.

**What you'll be accountable for**:

- Decision making responsibility and full accountability for provision of legal advice to the business. Where escalation of own or business queries is required, escalation to Deputy General Counsel and/or General Counsel as appropriate.
- Day to day responsibility for own tasks with checking of work by Deputy General Counsel where required

**What you'll bring to the role**:

- Circa 5+ years PQE
- Good knowledge of financial services sector and PRA/FCA regime
- Strong legal drafting skills
- Strong communication and organisation skills
- Robust, personable and takes a pro-active approach to learning and development
- Ability to process complex information quickly
