To work as an autonomous practitioner providing a highly specialised level of physiotherapy with an extended role to be able to refer for appropriate radiological investigations and utilise advanced diagnostic reasoning skills to be able to interpret results and act as necessary. To work closely with community childrens therapy team and provide expert assessment and advice on childrens orthopaedic conditions. To co-ordinate and lead the Developmental Hip Dysplasia (DDH) screening programme for County Durham and Darlington, ensuring that training of colleagues to work in these clinics is thorough and frequently updated, in accordance with National Screening Guidelines and evidence-based practice. To identify clinical research, audit and data collection priorities within scope of speciality, professional expertise and remit of advanced physiotherapy practice, to drive the departmental clinical development strategy.

The post holder will clinically support and advise B7, B6, B5 Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants and Students. This post holder will have highly specialised and analytical clinical skills. The post holder will review evidence based practice and NICE guidelines and will support Professional Lead to ensure that all parts of the service delivered across CDDFT are consistent and equitable and supports the guidance from the county-wide lead. To provide supervision/training to staff and students to develop their relevant professional skills and to ensure policies and procedures are being implemented and evaluated to ensure that educational and development opportunities are optimised, and governance and quality measures maintained.

To deliver on relevant KPIs to service and role, linked to outcomes, quality, governance, research and finance. As an autonomous advanced clinical physiotherapy practitioner, provide highly specialised clinical physiotherapy services for a range of childrens orthopaedic presentations and to provide expert clinical opinion. To act as a clinical expert, assessing and treating children between newborn age and 19 years, covering a wide range of orthopaedic conditions including those considered as normal variants To provide a specialist service working as an independent autonomous advanced practitioner alongside Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons
