About the role

We are currently recruiting for a temporary Airframes Operative to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Airframes Team. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.

QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

What will I be doing?

Reporting to the Airframes Supervisor, you will be responsible for the c onstruction of airframe and surface vessels, together with the assembly of engines and all associated sub-assemblies from the QinetiQ range of targets.

**Duties will include**:
Manufacture and assemble products, as required for the production of target aircraft and boats.

Assemble engines and all associated sub-assemblies.

Work from written instructions and drawings where applicable.

To work in co-operation with all departments in the production facility.

Maintain a consistent standard of work and performance to satisfy the Company’s Quality Assurance standards.

Perform duties and additional tasks as directed by the Production Supervisor or his / her deputy.

To comply with Company Quality Procedures as defined by the Company’s Manual reference QMS1 and its associated documents.

Meeting weekly production targets.

Reporting of data for quality purposes.

Good housekeeping.

Continuous improvement towards production methods.

What do I need?

We ask that you have experience of working in a manufacturing environment and are qualified to GCSE, or equivalent level, in maths and English.

You’ll have the ability to problem solve and be an excellent team player.

**We also ask that you have**:
good practical skills (including the use of basic hand tools)
good computer skills.
strong attention to detail.

Experience of working on a production line.
