Casework makes up the majority of our activities and Casework Officers are crucial to the effective running of the organisation.

**Job description**:
We are looking for individuals who support the drive for continuous improvement by constructively challenging processes, working flexibly, and being receptive to change. You will also be able to adapt to new technology and business procedures and be someone who pro-actively helps others and provides constructive feedback. You will be willing to undertake regular learning and development opportunities. You will work closely with our Inspectors and other colleagues within the Inspectorate and be able to build effective working relationships.

On a day to day basis you will be liaising with Stakeholders both verbally and in writing, maintaining databases and managing your own caseload.

You will be placed in one of the following teams and matched on suitability and skills:
**Planning and Enforcement Teams**: You’ll work in a team of other caseworkers in a high-performance culture at the very heart of our work. Your role will be key to ensuring your teams embrace the new ways of working and are all working towards our common goal of delivering around 20,000 cases each year. You will work with your team and team leaders to ensure that they are able to deliver casework to quality, time and cost expectations.

**Resourcing and Process Ownership Team**: Our primary aim is to ensure that the Operations Directorate is properly resourced, efficient and effective. We achieve this through robust forecasting, recruitment, procurement and deployment of our resource and, by overseeing continuous process improvement, data management and compliance.

**Defra Rights of Way, Common Land and Coastal Access Team**: You’ll be responsible for processing RoW Orders, schedule 14 appeals/directions and assisting with Common land casework from receipt to event.

**Inquiries and Major Casework and Costs Team**:You’ll work as part of a team** **processing planning appeals, involving major proposals relating to housing, retail and energy. The casework is high profile locally and regionally, and often attracts national attention and the interest of MPs, the Secretary of State and Ministers.

**Local Plan Team**:The Local Plans team are responsible for the management of Local Plan (Strategic and Non-Strategic) and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Examinations. We work closely with our dedicated group of Local Plan Inspectors as well as the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and Local Authorities; from pre-submission through to the issue of the Inspectors Final Report deciding if the Plan has been found Sound and when it is later adopted by the Council.

**Hybrid Working**:
All of our office-based roles are contractually located at Temple Quay House in Bristol. Most of our roles are able to work in a hybrid manner and you will be expected to attend Temple Quay House at least 12 days a year. Depending on your role, you may be required to attend more often than 12 days a year either permanently or temporarily to ensure we deliver our services in the most efficient and effective way for our cust
