The Joint Cybercrime Unit, as part of the Norfolk and Suffolk Specialist Crime and Intelligence under Detective Superintendent Paul Wells, has been established in response to the exponential increase in cyber related crimes across both counties and on a national level.

The unit's mission is to contribute alongside regional, national and international partners towards the provision of a safer and more secure cyber environment in support of the National Cyber Security Strategy and the Serious and Organised Crime Strategy.

The Norfolk and Suffolk Cybercrime Unit based at Halesworth is managed by Detective Inspector Stephen Clarke. The team currently consists of D/Sergeant Ian Grimble, D/Sergeant Jamie Rose, Digital Media Investigators (DMIs), DCs who are specialists in network investigations, Cyber Security Advisors and the advertised role The team also has a Fraud Investigator/Financial Intelligence Officer. The unit primarily investigates Cyber-dependent offences and supports level 2 investigations

Applications are invited for the above post in the Joint Protective Services / Cybercrime department at Halesworth.

**ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST**

**1. Principal purpose of the role**

To provide cyber, digital and online protective advice to individuals in order to increase their online resilience, and reduce the probability of them becoming a victim of cybercrime.

**2. Main activities of the role **_**(This list is not exhaustive**_**)**
- To collaborate and engage with victims of crime to educate and raise awareness of the threat from Cybercrime.
- To work in conjunction with investigators, internal partners and the cyber security advisor.
- To maintain a good working knowledge of online communication platforms / social media services
- To professionally represent the Cybercrime Unit through engagement with victims of cybercrime
- Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management

**3. Special conditions/Points to note**

a) The purpose of this job description is to indicate the general level of the duties and responsibility of the role, the duties may from time to time vary without changing the general character of the role or the levels of responsibilities

b) Whilst the role is normally based at the aforementioned location, you may be required to work at other establishments across both Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies as may be reasonably required. Police Staff Conditions of Service will be adhered to in such instances.

c) All duties must be carried out in accordance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and good practice. A ‘No Smoking in the Work Place’ policy applies.

d) All duties must be carried out in a manner that supports the Constabulary’s commitment to equality and inclusion.

**It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria**:

- Experience of delivering advice in a professional capacity
- Demonstrate an inquisitive mind set, with the ability to take detailed notes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to empathise and support vulnerable victims of crime
- Demonstrate knowledge of both the social and technical elements of online security.
- Good Keyboard skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrate innovative ways of problem solving.
- Flexible, approachable and willing to work undirected on own initiative outside.

**It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria**:

- To have completed cyber, social or computer science related course or degree.
- Demonstrate an interest in Cyber Security.
- Demonstrate an understanding of threat, risk and harm in the context of Cyber Security and Cyber
- Enabled Fraud

Hours of work are 37 hours per week 0800 -1600 hours Monday to Friday. This post is offered on a temporary basis.

Consideration will be given to whether the post can be delivered on either a part time or job share basis, in line with the organisational requirements of this role.
