Birmingham, United Kingdom Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The primary purpose of this role is to act as the lead change agent on specific aspects of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion. These areas are service equality and community engagement

our services - ensuring we understand and address inequalities in access, experience and outcomes (Director of Equality and Inclusion);
our communities - ensuring we hear the voices and understand the needs of the people we serve (Director of Equality and Inclusion ).

This work will require an innovative approach to driving equity improvements throughout the Trust and positioning Birmingham Community Health Care Foundation Trust (BCHCFT) as a leading socially responsible employer and service provider. The post holder will act to embed an evidence-based approach to identifying and addressing matters of inequality and preventing discrimination.

The post holder will engage the diverse communities we serve as co-productive partners, shaping services and taking action to challenge the inequalities in health that are a common threat to the wellbeing of our population.

Ensuring that EDI is a golden thread which runs throughout every function within the Trust and is a core feature of the decision-making, values, behaviour and experience of colleagues and is the hallmark of our patient and community experience will be a key objective of the role.

Working closely with the Director of Equality and Inclusion and Divisional Directors, develop BCHC’s approach to tackling service equalities through our Promoting Health Equity strategy identifying areas in which BCHC can make an impact in reducing inequalities and their impact on access, experience and outcomes and setting out how we will address these.

Working with senior colleagues in BCHC, develop and ensure systems are in place to deliver an Anchor Institution approach as part of our Promoting Health Equity strategy ensuring we do all we can to tackle inequalities in service delivery in the area we serve.

Working closely with the Director of Equality and Inclusion, support the development of a framework for assessing the equality impact of our c. 100 service lines across the domains of access, experience and outcomes.

Develop a framework for the assessment of service equality impact that can be used by our five clinical divisions to progress their own work on service equality and train staff on its implementation.

BCHC has more than 5000 staff working across Birmingham and the West Midlands in a wide range of community nursing and specialist healthcare roles. BCHC delivers over 100 clinical services, in people's homes, health centres, clinics and inpatient facilities. We deliver a wide range of services for children, young people and families as well as adults and community services, two community hospitals, services for people with learning disabilities, the internationally recognised West Midlands Rehab Centre and one of Europe’s leading Dental Hospitals and School of Dentistry. We deliver all of this with a commitment to integrated, personalised care that is rooted in our local communities. We have an ambition to deliver outstanding, integrated care as one of the key NHS providers in the West Midlands.

If you want to ‘Be Part of Our Team’ and work with a Foundation Trust which is continuously striving for best care and healthy communities, we want to hear from you.

IMPORTANT

Please ensure you check your Trac account regularly as this is how we will communicate with you during the shortlisting and selection process.
