Job Title: Support Worker
Location: Parbold, Wigan

Competitive hourly rate, training provided.Full time roles. Working both day and night shifts.

Role Summary
To undertake tasks and duties that enable service users with complex needs to live independently in their own home including Personal Care and care that requires Advanced Skills. To work closely with the service user, to follow policies and procedures and to be a positive and pro-active team member. Also perform any other duties as required for the service user.

**Key responsibilitiesCommunication**Communicate effectively with the service user and their family members.Communicate effectively with other team members.Communicate effectively with management and all other professionals involved in the service user’s care.

**Personal and Company Development**Take responsibility for own developmental learning and performance, including participating in supervision and competency training.Work with the company on any new training requirements.To recognise and understand the roles and responsibilities of individuals working in the company.

**Health, Safety and Security**Identify the risks involved in care and work activities and undertake them in a way that manages the risks.Use appropriate infection control procedures ensuring that service users homes are clean, safe and free from hazards and to report any potential risks.Know the general principles of First Aid and resuscitation and to be able to undertake initial actions as appropriate.Enable mobility, including Moving and Handling techniques and appropriate use of equipment.Know the Health and Safety policies and procedures within the company and service users own homes, including fire procedures, maintaining documentation, monitoring and maintenance of equipment.

**Quality**Alert the company and colleagues to issues of quality and risk in the care of service users including Adult and Child Protection procedures.Ensure own actions are consistent with company clinical governance procedures.Know key company policies which are available in the staff handbook including Safeguarding, Record Keeping, Whistle Blowing etc. (non exhaustive list).

**Equality and diversity**Act in ways that recognise the importance of people's rights, promoting them in a way that is consistent with company procedures.Respect the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of service users and family members.Understand Consent to Care and Mental Capacity Act responsibilities.

**Clinical Skills - Health and Well-being**Follow Care Plan and Nurse instructions for all clinical and personal care procedures.Undertake record and follow clinical guidelines for the tasks for which you have received appropriate training.Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after service user care interventions.Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being, and how it can be promoted.

**Social Care**Assist with day to day households tasks e.g. laundry, shopping, light housework etc.Assist service users with day to day commitments including accompanying them to their place of work or school/college as well as social and leisure activities

**Information Processes and Reporting**Record information and activities undertaken with service users, in an accurate and timely fashion using manual or computer systems as appropriate.Maintain confidentiality of information relating to service users, relatives, staff and the company at all times.Ensure that reporting is done in an accurate and timely fashion in line with company policies and procedures.
