Musgrove Park Academy is the Teaching and Learning hub at Musgrove Park Hospital and the medical education team run this provision alongside the co-ordination of educational, training, and clinical placements for medical students, postgraduate doctors in training and medical allied professions.

Previous apprentices have progressed onto permanent roles in the medical education team with some going on to complete level 3 and 4 qualifications. Other apprentices have found roles on completion of their apprenticeship within the wider people services department and in other areas of the trust.

The role is key in supporting the smooth running of teaching facilities in the academy which in turn links to providing excellent teaching to medical learners and the wider trust to improve patient care.

You will complete an educational pathway with the award winningBridgwater and Taunton College.

As part of the apprenticeship you will support the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust; specifically providing an attentive and welcoming customer service experience based on reception at Musgrove Park Academy, Musgrove Park Hospital.

The apprentice will signpost/ deal with day-to-day student and clinician queries in relation to the undergraduate and postgraduate medical training programmes.

The apprentice will become an integral part of the Medical Education Team and learn about all aspects of Medical Education to support the provision of high-quality teaching facilities housed in Musgrove Park Academy.

The apprentice will form part of the unlocking and locking rota of the Academy - please note this will include room and IT set up.

**Working Hours**: (including half hour lunchbreak - 7.5 working hours per day)

**Week 1**: 0800 - 1600

**Week 2**: 0930 - 1730

Administration services including phone duties, typing, scanning, filing, booking system, managing incoming and outgoing mail, manage and receive telephone calls and messages, ensuring effective communication and courtesy at all times.

This is a fixed term contract for 14 months, the role will include training on all aspects of medical education gaining valuable work experience in Administration and Customer Service, obtaining NHS knowledge & experience and a Level 2 qualification.

The Academybuilding itself has recently undergone a £2million upgrade, and features seminar rooms, tutorial rooms, skills and simulation training spaces together with student facilities and a library. The Academy has a dedicated staff room for the medical education and library team and we have a wellbeing champion within the medical education team.

The Medical Education Team, based on the Musgrove Park Hospital Site of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust supports the Education and Training for Postgraduate Doctors in Training, Locally Employed Doctors and their trainers, together with supporting placements for medical students linked to the University of Bristol Medical School and Peninsula Medical School, Plymouth University and other medical allied professions.

You will be allocated a college academic mentor for the duration of your programme who will work with both you and your line manager to identify opportunities for growth and development and you will also attend a series of workshops to support knowledge development in business administration.
