Full time and long term Teaching Assistant Job in Cardiff - Supporting on a 1:1 basis in a Reception Class
A job has become available for a Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception child with behavioural difficulties. This job is working within a large, mainstream, Primary School in Cardiff. The school draws from a mixed catchment area and has awhole-school behaviour management approach, so you will need to be able to adhere to school behaviour policies, as well as drawing upon your own experience and techniques. This role is full time, starts in January 2023 and is confirmed until July 2023. Thereis also a likelihood that this will continue in September 2023.
Experience of supporting children within the primary age-range is essential. The support that the child needs will be allocated 1:1 time to assist with the delivery of activities based around learning development, as set out by the class teacher. You will needto be able to work closely with the class teacher to identify areas where the child need additional support, providing feedback to the class teacher where appropriate as well as working with the teacher to plan and prepare resources. You will be empatheticand understanding and will nurture/support the child in all aspects, including emotional support. You will build rapport with the child in order to facilitate a good working relationship based on trust and confidence. You will use your experience of supportingchallenging behaviour, to ensure that the child is engaged and on-task. You will support the child with an inclusion-based approach, encouraging the child to interact with others in the group/classroom, and in group-based activities where appropriate.
Proven experience of working with children within a primary school setting Experience of supporting in a 1:1 capacity Good behaviour management skills/experience and the ability to build rapport with the child
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
An adaptable and pro-active attitude
The ability to work as part of a team to create a positive and progressive learning environment.
