Hours of work avalaible (felxibile to you), Term Time. Monday - Wednesday 3:30 - 6:15pm Thursday - Friday 3:30 - 8:30pm
School Holidays 9:40 - 3:30pm Monday - Friday
**Let’s Play Project**
The Let’s Play Project is a Banbury based charity that has worked in the local community since 2001. We specialise in supporting the safe provision of play activities for Young People with additional needs. We currently support 135 young people and their families in Banbury and the surrounding villages. The project provides an After-School Club, School Holiday Club,
Youth Group and 18 Plus Group which are accessible for everyone. We have a bank of over 30
Playworkers who are highly trained in toileting, gastrostomy feeding, medication administration, safeguarding, and play techniques that respond to each young person’s individual needs. We are the biggest provider of Specialist Provision in North Oxfordshire.
At the Let’s Play Project, we strive to ensure all our Young People can access play and leisure activities both at our activity hub in Twyford and out in the community, whilst also learning new skills and socialising with their peers. During the holidays we provide trips out including swimming, bowling, the cinema, wildlife parks, and trampoline parks.
**Job Role**:
To aid the safe inclusion of children and Young People with additional needs in a variety of play, leisure, and recreational activities in the Banbury area.
To play an active part in ‘Our Mission’ as a project;
- To give Young People the freedom and confidence to be themselves, to have fun with their peers and to increase the opportunities for Young People with additional needs in the local community.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Actively encourage positive play, recreational and social experiences for Young People aged
5-25 with additional needs.
- To ensure that Young People remain safe and secure at all times.
- To work in partnership with colleagues, parents, venue staff and other professionals

Job Description - Playworker
- To participate in reflections after each session, and give constructive feedback to the
Session Leader
- To help with tidying up equipment and cleaning after each session
- To communicate with a member of the Core Team in the office if you are unable to attend a session
- To recognise the unique potential that individuals from differing backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, bring to the Let’s Play Project.
- To work as part of a team
- To be responsible for your own time keeping (arriving to session 20 minutes before the projected start time)
- Be aware of the differing and individual needs of the Young Person/People you are working with in each session
- Attend all meetings and training as requested by the Core Team
- Keep up to date with all Let’s Play Project policies/practices; including Safeguarding, Health and Safety.
**Desirable Skills & Abilities**
Individual:
- Experience of working with Young People with additional needs is helpful, but not essential
- Individuals must be fun, reliable and keen to make a difference in the lives of Young
People with additional needs.
- A general enjoyment and desire for working with Young People
Professional:
- Adhere to the rules and procedures in the various settings in which the project works
- Observe confidentiality in your work for the Let’s Play Project
- Promote good practice relating to the Let's Play Project Equal Opportunities Statement,
Child Protection, Health and Safety and Data Protection policies.
- Focus on discovering and acting on the Young Person’s needs
- Be committed to putting the Young Person and their needs first
- To undertake any other duties that may be required
Additional Job-Related Requirements:
- Attend occasional training during some evening, weekends or holidays as required
- Attend the annual safeguarding training
- Work positively and be flexible in challenging situations. Evening work will be required.
