**Job summary**:
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a Department that touches the lives of citizens the length and breadth of the UK. More than ever, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is playing a critical role in supporting citizens through the economic impact of covid-19 - both into work and progressing within work. DWP has an ambitious programme of welfare reform, and the way in which we deliver our services to over 20 million customers a year.

Our People, Capability and Place (PCandP) team, which brings together HR, Capability, Learning and Talent and Estates and Workplace Transformation expertise, is one of the largest people-related functions in the UK (over 1700 people) and our strong focus on team working, strategic influencing and developing professional capability will ensure that you have plenty of opportunities to develop your own networks and career whilst making a real difference in delivering the business strategy.

**Job description**:
DWP is looking for a Capability Based Pay Reward Lead to support the Capability Based Pay within DWP. The Reward Lead will sit within the recently established Capability Based Pay (CBP) Team in PCandP alongside 2 other G7s. This is a key strategic role, which will primarily lead the implementation of the SCS Capability Based Pay system in DWP in the coming year and support the design and development of CBP for our delegated grades. This is a pioneering piece of work for Government. The need for these posts has arisen given the commitment as part of the Declaration on Government Reform to introduce CBP progression in the SCS and DWP’s ambition and strategy to roll this out for delegated grades during the upcoming Spending Review Period.

**G7 Reward Lead**:
This role requires a blend of skills including strong stakeholder management, partnering skills and a technical reward background. You will collaborate with various teams including the DWP Skills Unit and DWP SCS Pay Team, as well as maintain close engagement with CSHR on implementation and roll out plans for SCS CBP. You will lead the scoping, implementation and communications for SCS CBP to ensure the smooth embedding of the new system within DWP- raising and mitigating any risk. You will also work closely with the technical Reward Lead and wider SCS Pay leads to ensure pay technicalities are appropriately considered and accounted for. This role will support in providing leadership/management resilience across the CBP leadership team whilst ensuring strategic alignment between SCS and delegated approaches and providing pay system design support in the delegated space when needed.

**This role reports into the Head of Capability Based Pay and will involve management of an SEO.**

**This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to take a reward leadership role to lead and support the implementation of the SCS capability based pay system in the coming year and deliver the ambition for delegated grades in the longer term. In this role you will**:

- Lead the scoping and implementation of SCS CBP system within DWP ensuring smooth embedding within DWP
- Ensure a structured programme management approach to the SCS CBP agenda
- Provide clear leadership, building capability and nurturing talent, ensuring the team continues to deliver high quality outcomes across the challenging agenda, and often within tight deadlines
- Work closely with Capability, Learning and Talent colleagues on successfully embedding of CBP systems in DWP.
- Develop the communication strategy for SCS CBP and engage with the senior stakeholders, produce briefings and chairing meetings where appropriate.
- Confidently raise risks and work on mitigations
- Work closely with the technical Reward Lead and wider SCS Pay leads to ensure pay technicalities are appropriately considered and accounted for.
- Ensure strategic alignment between SCS and delegated approaches and provide pay system design support in the delegated space and wider pay portfolios when needed.
- Working level consultation with HM Treasury and Cabinet Office, plus Ministerial engagement when needed
