**12595 - Financial Controller Job Spec**

Location: Melton Mowbray

**Summary of the Role**

Our client - a long-established commercial retailer based in Melton Mowbray - is seeking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. This newly created position - reporting to the business directors andeventually supervising their own team will be tasked with developing control processes and responsible for:

- Daily financial transactions of the Company,
- Provision of commercial analysis / support to the business. Oversight of commercial spend & rebate reporting to clients, as well as adhoc reporting to other departments, including analysis of sales by product / margin / stock turns / stock write-offs, effectof foreign exchange etc,
- Production, review & fine tuning of customer profitability analysis, review current processes, strive for efficiency whilst maintaining customer service across the business,
- Production of the monthly management accounts within 5-days of month-end,
- Production of draft annual accounts with supporting information pack,
- Reporting of financial information & accounts internally and to external auditors,
- Liaise with other departments to ensure management information is being prepared as required in a timely manner,
- Expense processing, ensure returns are reviewed correctly & VAT is claimed as appropriate,
- Oversight of cash-flow including payments / approval processes & forecasting,
- Monitoring & control of debtor days / creditor days,
- Preparation & submission of CAP-EX requests, commercial & financial appraisal of projects,
- Management of the transfer of all general business & accounting activities to a new system,
- Management of inventory reporting, monitoring of inventory days, preparation of provisioning and oversight of the stock-counting process & review,
- Revision of overdue debt & escalation of issues with the relevant management teams, taking a lead in resolving debt-payment process issues,
- Assist in the production of forecasts & annual budget process,
- Management of the payroll incl. submission of information to HMRC,
- Management of IT and ERP systems / process changes.
- Experience of Orderwise software an advantage, but not essential

**The Right Person**
- Part OR fully qualified CIMA, ACCA or equivalent, OR qualified-by-experience,
- Minimum of 5-years accounting backgrounding within retail / trade is preferred,
- Proactive, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative with mínimal supervision in a fast-moving commercial team environment,
- Effective communication skills, confident in presenting financial information to senior management,
- Excellent planning, organisation & deadline time keeping skills,
- Strong IT skills, experience with ERP systems preferred.
