**Fixed term contract contract. Ends June 2024, Part-time 3 days per week.**

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Ukrainian Support Team here at Centrala.

As a part of the project, you will need to identify the barriers that the Ukrainian Community faces when preparing for, and ultimately finding work in the UK.

You will provide employment support to the Ukrainian Community and help them prepare for competitive employment and achieve their chosen training and employment objectives. You will work to a variety of performance targets based on the progression outcomes of Ukrainian Community such as successful completion of training courses, voluntaryand work placements and achieving and sustaining paid employment.

**About you**

Experience in successfully supporting migrants and refugees into sustainable employment
- Understanding the issues and challenges faced by unemployed people to finding work, including those who first language is not English
- Experience of providing advice and guidance
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding employment processes and needs of the employment market
- Experience in one to one and group support and coaching

This role is defined by the project funded by Birmingham City Council to deliver the following:
**Frontline support**

Carrying out employment focused initial assessments and completing an individual action plan.

Individual support with writing CV and cover letters

Provide support with interview skills and job search

Help understand qualifications and degree requirements

Targeted Employability workshops focused on specific areas: CV, successful interview, transferring skills and qualifications, adjusting to culturally different working environment

Organise specific employment awareness sessions for various occasional groups with industry representatives e.g. Session with representatives of NHS and Public Health, Department for Education, qualification registration bodies.

Promote and help understand employment law, employers and employees rights & responsibilities.

Promoting professional development training, alternative ways of gaining work experience, and the value of volunteering.

Producing resources for Ukraininans with consideration of cultural differences:
CV examples for various industries and specialties, cover letters, interview tips and scenarios, guides to professional qualification recognitions, useful links and professional bodies contacts.

Providing specialist advice to people looking to work in recognised sectors such as education, finance, health and technology.

Supporting clients to attend the ESOL classes.

Work as part of the team supporting newly arrived Ukrainians in Birmingham

Connect with community in person and online

Use social media for community engagement and knowledge sharing

**Monitoring and Evaluation**

Carrying out ongoing monitoring with individuals, assessing progress against action plans and completing impact assessments.

Working in collaboration with other employability organisations to accelerate employer engagement to achieve work experience and job offers.

Develop and maintain records, complying with systems in place to monitor data and outcomes.

Ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are being met, working with the Programme Manager to discuss areas for improvement and share outcomes.

Contribute to the evaluation of the project through monitoring, reviewing and evaluation of interventions and services provided. This will include contribution to meetings, working groups and activities as required, including the provision of reports and project information.

**Development**

Build and support relationship building with national employers.

Undertaking relevant training as required.

Any other duties that from time to time may reasonably be required.

**EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS**

**Essential**
- **Level 4 NVQ or equivalent**

**KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**

**Essential**
- Proven experience or knowledge within the migrant employment sector
- Understanding of the issues and challenges faced by unemployed people to find work, including those whose first language is not English.
- A knowledge of adult learning/ vocational training.
- Understanding of the recruitment needs of employers.
- Experience of advice & guidance, negotiating, reviewing
- Experience delivering workshop activities around job search, work readiness and information, advice and guidance.

**Desirable**
- Current knowledge of welfare benefits, particularly in relation to moving into work.
- Experience of business engagement/intervention to facilitate access to placement and job opportunities.
- Experience of working with employers to generate new vacancies and new work experience opportunities.
- Understanding of the Homes for Ukraine scheme
