The Estates Department is looking for an experienced & reliable maintenance assistant (Engineering) to join their dynamic team in the day to day maintenance of the Hospital.
You will support the estates team in providing an effective and efficient engineering maintenance service to a high quality on a wide range of engineering and building services located within the Trust.
You will also provide support to multi skilled maintenance crafts personnel and contractors with reference to plant, equipment, site facilities, building fabric.
You will assist in carrying out planned maintenance and day to day repairs within a hospital environment. You will be conversant with all aspects of working in a large commercial/industrial estate which in addition to patient accommodation includes theatres, treatment areas, offices and process plants..
The post will be based at Chorley Hospital, but you may be asked to work at other sites within the trust. A willingness to work flexible hours when required is a must.

Be prepared to work in hazardous areas, confined spaces and on contaminated equipment taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment in accordance with Trust policy and safe working procedures. Carries out monitoring and maintenance effectively, in a way which minimises risk to self, others and the work environment, and complies with relevant legislation, policies and procedures, and any relevant service agreements/contracts
Undertakes engineering planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) in accordance with Trust procedures and schedules.
Maintains plant rooms, service ducts etc. in a clean and tidy condition.
Assists other maintenance trades as required including electrical and mechanical and building
Maintains records of work carried out and documentation relevant to engineering maintenance and in accordance with statutory requirements
Ensure the security of all plant, equipment and buildings under the jurisdiction of the Maintenance Department. Make sure that any work areas are secure when working. Ensure that plant rooms are locked at all times
Carry out duties which will relate to drainage system cleaning, material handling, ventilation cleaning, lamp renewals, etc. Assist in maintenance of hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum, piped medical gas systems steam, condensate, heating and DHW systems including all associated plant and equipment
Other duties including assisting Waste Operatives in the operation of the Waste facility, including operation of compactors and waste deliveries
Identifies any problems with environments, buildings, items or equipment and takes the appropriate action to resolve them
Reports all incidents involving, accidents and near misses related to own area of responsibility.
Undertake continuing personal and technical development to maintain the competency requirements of the post. Trained to operate; forklift truck
Advises the Maintenance Manager of any necessary work following inspections and visits to any of the Trusts premises. Liaises with Contractors with regard to work being carried out on the sites
Be prepared to undertake duties as a lone worker throughout the Trust Estate
Required to drive appropriate Trust vehicles for transporting personnel or equipment
