**WHAT TO EXPECT**

This exciting new role sits in the Powertrain Build and Test Operations team within Engineering Operations (EO). Created to enable Land Rover’s electrified future as well as the all-new electric Jaguar range.

This specialist role requires someone with extensive knowledge of simulation integration into the physical test environment. There is a need to ensure where possible, the most simple, robust solution is available to enable test. But ensure that complex models are available to push the boundaries of what we can test on the test beds.

This will require collaboration across Engineering to understand the sources of simulation and non-geometric data. Ensuring that we have the available model, hardware, integration capability and test bed interface to ensure we can run in-real time with physical hardware in the loop.

In addition, collaboration with the test methodologies groups in EO and EP to ensure the test cases are futured for.

Finally, this person will act as custodian for the simulation and integration models that enable physical test, setting up robust version and change control systems to ensure environments can be re-created to enable debug of issues and re-create test environments when required.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR**

Strategy
- Develop strategic intent roadmaps for co-simulation and HiL integration in the Physical test environment.

People + Leadership
- Establish and deploy best technical practice, knowledge, coaching and mentoring, ensuring technical and programme issues are supported and reviewed.
- Leadership Works with suppliers and other functions to ensure we have the latest in test capability, supported by high quality models and integration to maximise test capability.

Delivery
- Act as the product owner for the Co-Simulation and HiL team in the physical test environment.
- Enable integration and delivery of simulation into physical test, including ownership of wrapper, model integration, change management, NGD alignment and model correlation.
- Ensure model parameterisation and correlation is standardised and aligned to JLR business process. (Central NGD and Model management, standard library of drivers)
- Work with Test Methods and the Operations team to enable maximum re-use of test cases across test platforms, reducing duplicated programming effort.
- Lead task force activities to solve complex engineering problems and act as a flying doctor - act as escalation authority for complex debug activity or model integration and deployment issues.

Quality (+ Technology)
- Ensure simulation and platform are matched to test type, minimising complexity and maximising capability.
- Work with SW and Commodity groups to ensure pre-requisite testing is completed and model capability is matched to use case.

Safety
- Enable a Safety first culture, leading by example and ensuring the team are supported in enabling safe operations.

Integrated Management System
- Support all activities that result in a positive outcome from any audit, e.g. IATF16949,OHSAS18001, ISO 14001.
- Leading and directing a multi-disciplinary team allocating responsibilities to ensure maximum effectiveness of the team.

**WHAT YOU’LL NEED**

**Essential**:

- Proven technical expertise and significant experience of test facility operations and system under test preparation.
- Proven knowledge and experience with a wide range of instrumentation and test equipment.
- Proven experience of leading and developing engineering teams and providing technical advice and guidance.
- Experience in technical leadership in a measurement or test environment, inc. project planning and control.
- Significant experience with data acquisition and control systems.
- Significant experience of data analysis and reporting of test data.
- Natural problem-solver with structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.
- Strong knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, Risk Assessment, COSHH and SDS
- The ability to validate, prepare and read engineering documents.
- Educated to Degree level (Level 6) in a Systems, Mechanical, or Electrical/Electronics Engineering related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent in English, Maths and Science.
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, process documentation and Single Point Lessons (SPL).
