This post is to cover sabbatical leave. UHB is one of the leading NHS trusts in the UK, serving a regional, national, and international population. With multiple sites including Birmingham Chest Clinic, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, and Solihull Hospital, more than 2.2 million patients are seen and treated at UHB every year. This is an exciting opportunity for an Anaesthetist with an interest in Neuroanaesthesia to join our friendly and dynamic Neuroanaesthesia Group. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is one of the biggest neuroscience departments in the UK. As a result, the Neuroanaesthesia group provide perioperative care for a wide range of complex cranial, spinal and neurovascular procedures. Cranial work includes craniotomies for supratentorial and posterior fossa tumours, functional, and base of skull neurosurgery. There is an established awake craniotomy service. Spinal operations include spinal oncology, spinal deformity work and thoracic work requiring one lung ventilation. We have a dedicated Neuroangio suite treating complex aneurysms/AVMs and offering a 24/7 mechanical thrombectomy service. There is a weekly consultant delivered high risk pre assessment clinic. There is anaesthetic representation at Neurosurgical morbidity & mortality meetings and MDTs. We manage Neurosurgical patients on the new QEHB 8 bedded EPOC
