**About the job**
This is a two-year training post to learn all aspects of the Tree Surgery role. Starting as a specialist Groundsman, you will progress to Arborist Climber if you have the interest and potential.
The work spans a wide range of practical tree surgery tasks for both commercial and domestic customers.
**The role involves but is not limited to**:
- Preparation and loading up accurately and efficiently from our base near Basingstoke
- Safe and tidy customer site set-up and exit
- Risk assessment and method planning
- Completing aspects of practical tree work from the ground, including pruning and felling, tree planting, shrub/hedge reduction and vegetation clearance
- Safe use of a wide range of hand tools and powered equipment including brush chippers, chainsaws, pole saws, hedge trimmers and leaf blowers
- Supporting the Arborist Climber from the ground using roping and rigging techniques
- Completing safety and maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment; recording and reporting in writing
- Communicating effectively and professionally with other team members, customers and the public
This is a permanent position 40 hours a week (Mon-Fri 7.30am - 4.30pm).
**Skills and Experience**
Full training will be given but it’s essential that you are interested in and committed to building an exciting career in the sector, and have experience of:
- Working in a team, achieving outcomes together with a group of others
- Completing tasks needing a good level of physical fitness; you must be willing and able to work outdoors
- Communicating openly and clearly with others (team members and customers), verbally and in writing
