**Mechanical Engineering Supervisor**
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to join our team and support day to day engineering maintenance/fabrication activities, also to help drive us forward and engage with upcoming future project work.

**The person**:

- Must have strong people management skills
- Passion for leading and driving a team forward
- A “can do” attitude and proactive approach to task
- Flexible with working hours
- Ability and desire to step up within the role and be mentored to deputise for Engineering line manager.
- Good time keeping and inter personal skills

**The Role**:Hands-on line supervision role, managing a multi-disciplined engineering team of approx. 10 men within a project team of 50, providing leadership, direction and motivation and exceptional interpersonal skills.**
- Promote a health and safety culture at all times, carrying out behavioural audits and spot checks
- Supply engineering expertise to complete tasks and to plan future works, providing engineering expertise and advice to the client and project team
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, call of materials and execute fabrication
- Carry out and direct structural engineering, fabrication and general engineering tasks
- Daily work organisation, pre-start briefings, toolbox talks and safety time outs.
- Organise and prioritize work arising and look for opportunities to maximise resource.
- Preparation and authorisation of work packs, RAMS, lift plans, and any necessary permits.
- Ensure you are aware of legislation and standards e.g., HSAWA, COMAH, LOLER, PUWER, ISO 18001, ISO 9001. Ensure our compliance to contract and any additional requests are approved in writing prior to start or supply
- Manage skills set, training and competency of direct reports to facilitate customer and project requirements
- Ensure KPI, tracker sheets, reports, variations, technical queries, training matrix, handover sheets and other required documentation are completed to time and required standards. Ensure the appropriate records are maintained; paper based and electronic
- Ensure effective performance management, absence management, timekeeping and control employee turnover.
- Establish agreed set of 'routines' for maintenance and monitor that they are fully completed against set targets
- Liaise with planning/client for spares and material requirements
- Deputise as Site Engineer during periods of absence
- **Essential Experience**:

- Knowledge of Heath & Safety Management systems
- Experienced site Engineering Supervisor from an established high-quality industry, steel industry and construction, engineering process development background
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and be able to replicate / fabricate. Welding & fabrication techniques
- Knowledge of structural engineering and associated principals
- Knowledge of general engineering principals
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works an advantage.
- We require a good balance of management skills along with strong technical experience
- Motivate and drive the workforce in a productive and time effective manner
- Good time management skills
- Knowledge of Best Practice Safe Work Methods

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Recognised engineering apprenticeship
- Certificate of Higher Education
- Level 3 NVQ in Engineering or Welding & Fabrication
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an engineering supervisory role
- Driving licence and own transport

**Desirable Qualifications**:

- NEBOSH / IOSH Managing Safely, if not must be willing undertake
- ILM/CMI Qualification in Management
- CITB SSSTS
- CCNSG safety passport
- Appointed person for lifting
