**SOC Engineer - Cyber Security - London/Knottingley/Flexible**

**SOC Engineer** required for a leading manufacturing company based in the UK to be responsible for Managing, monitoring, and maintaining the Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) tool within the SOC function to enable accurate and efficientsecurity monitoring capabilities within the business.

This role can be based from either London or Knottingley, West Yorkshire, however the company work to a hybrid approach so travel to the offices is limited.

**The salary on offer for this position is between £80,000 and £85,000** per annum plus a car allowance and bonus.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Managing the Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) solution, including onboarding log feeds, tool configuration and tuning
- Performing security monitoring platform health checks to ensure that the security solutions are operating effectively and efficiently
- Acting as the L3 escalation point in analysing and responding to security incidents from various security technologies and platforms
- Responding in a timely manner (within documented SLA) to configuration, maintenance, incident management and other requests
- Reporting and optimising false positive alarms within the SOC tooling
- Documenting and maintaining SOC playbooks that outline that detailed monitoring and operating procedures used by SOC analysts

**Key Skills**
- Essential to have a baseline level of knowledge on the Information Security Management Standard (ISO 27001) and NIST CSF
- Essential to have one or more of the following certifications: IBM Certified SOC Analyst, CSA, MS Certified Security Operations Analyst, CCNA or OSCP
- Strong working knowledge of security monitoring and operations processes and capabilities
- Strong technical knowledge of security protocols, network design and architecture, threat intelligence and security controls implementation
- Strong understanding of several security domains such as incident response, intrusion methods, attack monitoring, networks, threat and vulnerability management
- Ability to utilise a suite of security monitoring tools to provide insight on an organisation's security posture
- Ability to review captured network traffic, and compare against the contents of a security alert to verify the nature of the detection
- Ability to analyse security logs of firewall, IDS, IPS, DNS, DHCP, web proxy, anti-virus and SMTP data for security related concerns and events
