Conditional Cautions are one of a range of out-of-court disposals and they provide an effective and speedy resolution in appropriate cases. They offer a proven and proportionate response option to low-harm crime without necessarily going to court. A Conditional Caution is issued if the offender admits the offence and accepts the condition(s). If the conditions are complied with or completed within the timescales determined, the case is finalised and there is no prosecution. If, however, the conditions are not complied with, a prosecution may follow.

As well as often being more satisfying for the victim, evidence shows they are usually more effective than court disposals in reducing offending. They also don’t entail a conviction on the police national computer, which can be a barrier to employment, housing and education and in turn feed into further offending.

You’ll be part of a small team all focused on better management of offenders.
