Malmesbury, United Kingdom Dyson Full time

**Summary**:
**Salary**:
Competitive

Team:
Graduates, Interns and Apprentices

**Location**:
United Kingdom - Malmesbury Office

**About us**:
Dyson is a global technology enterprise. We solve the problems others choose to ignore, with surprising new inventions that defy convention and simply work better. We’re driven by progress and enjoy the opportunity to continuously improve what we do. We’re growing fast and our aspirations are huge - more categories, more locations, and more people.

Power Systems is a global team part of the wider Dyson RDD (Research, Design and Development) function that creates Dyson’s core technologies and enables our world class products. The Power Systems team has experts in a wide range of areas (mechanical, electrical, software, project management) and is responsible from early stages through to production of Dyson’s internal technologies.

At Dyson we do things differently. We look for the brightest new graduates with the right attitude to thrive in our unique culture. You will have the autonomy and freedom to excel and have real impact on our business. We aim to inspire you to become our future leaders. This is why we need creative thinkers, people who are motivated and drive themselves forward.

**About the role**:
We are looking for talented graduates to get involved in the development of the next generation of Dyson’s intelligent power systems. This is a broad opportunity for those who have an interest in electronics hardware (power, analog and digital), motor design, control algorithms and test systems to work in our Motor and Power Electronics team. In all cases work will involve design, simulation and hands-on elements.

Graduates will be selected to work with one or more of the Motor and Power Systems sub-teams according to ability and interest. Within the graduate scheme it is possible to rotate through other teams to build the multidisciplinary knowledge key to producing the best power system possible. Within the graduate scheme rotations would be available within:

- Power Electronics and Energy Storage: Designing and developing cutting-edge power electronics hardware, including battery management systems, drivers for digital motors, heater controllers, power converters and many others.
- Advanced Control Systems: Creating robust novel control systems which unlock new product functions by achieving a deep understanding of modelled system behaviour, measured data features or by fusing multiple data sources.
- Motor Design and Control: Designing bespoke electric motors and motor control systems to meet demanding requirements. These motors are modelled, built and tested in-house to achieve the best compromise across magnetic, electrical, mechanical, thermal and mass production challenges.
- Advanced Test Systems: Creating unique systems to facilitate the verification of motors and the technologies that drive them. A mix of engineering disciplines, including automation, electronics, and embedded software are employed in the full development cycle - from requirements gathering, through to implementation and deployment.

**Our Graduate Programme**:
Our graduate programme is designed to develop your career at Dyson with a two-year journey, so you can grow both personally and professionally. We’ll enable you to improve your knowledge and support your future career progression with workshops to give you baseline soft skills in addition to technical training. Our unique experiential journey provides a framework so you can reach your full potential with leadership talks, lunch-and-learns and more. You may have the opportunity to rotate into a variety of teams to support your professional development.

Please note
- This role is based in Malmesbury, UK and our main cohort start date is 11 September 2023
- A cover letter is not required.

**About you**:
You will be contributing to the delivery of the next generation of Dyson technology, so you will need to be:

- Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (other relevant engineering disciplines will be considered).
- Experience in using modelling and simulation analysis software such as MATLAB Simulink or SPICE-based tools would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through your university projects or as part of your extra-curricular activities.
- Shows an underlying curiosity and interest in how things work, or why they fail.
- A clear logical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
- A creative problem solver with the ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment.
- Happy to build your own networks to learn from the technical expertise around you.
- Passionate about Dyson and our technology to help us meet our ambitious plans for the future.

Above all, you will want to play a key part in bringing the next generation of Dyson technology to the world.
