**Job summary**:
This is an exciting role, leading the communications for an award-winning programme and Government Major Projects Portfolio working to modernise England’s planning system. We are one of the largest digital transformation programmes across the departments, working with over 100 local authorities, 40 technology providers and multiple industry stakeholders to accelerate system change.
Our programme brings various teams together to promote a shift from the current documents-based planning system to one that is powered by data and modern user-centred products and services. This is through a range of interventions including enabling: Better access to planning data Faster and more efficient planning decisions Improved local community engagement Simpler, faster, more accessible plan making. Alongside this, we are supporting an ambitious innovation agenda to demonstrate the value of technology and digital services.
The Communications Manager role is a key member of our programme, developing and delivering a communications strategy that uses digital communications, events and other tools to raise our profile, generate partnerships and increase our impact. We are looking for someone to lead on ensuring our messaging and communications are simple, effective and consistent. The role will require you to translate complex information to drive adoption and support innovation across local government and the planning sector and is critical to the success of the programme.
**Job description**:
**In this role you will**:
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies for the digital program, ensuring clear and consistent brand messaging across all platforms.
- Adapting communications strategies in response to evolving situations, demonstrating agility and resilience.
- Manage and oversee the quality of all communication materials, including content, websites, digital campaigns and social media.
- Partner with the digital team to create impactful multimedia content aligned with organisational goals and government policies.
- Analyse communication metrics, measuring the effectiveness of different channels and adjusting strategies for continuous improvement.
- Manage the program's online presence, updating websites and social media to deliver timely and accessible information.
- Oversee event participation, planning, and execution of the program's presence at conferences, seminars, and industry workshops.

- Proven experience in communications, marketing, public relations, copywriting or related fields.
- Strong Communicator: Articulate and concise communicator, engaging internal and external audiences across various channels.
- Project Management: Demonstrates effective time management and prioritisation, thriving under pressure.
- Technology Fluency: Proficient in digital tools, website analytics, and social media monitoring platforms.
- Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and effectively manage multiple competing priorities and stakeholders.
- Engaging Writer: Creates content that resonates with diverse audiences, adhering to brand guidelines.
- Strategic Thinker: Develops data-driven communication plans aligned with program goals and stakeholder needs.

**Desirable skills and experience**:
- Experience of writing for government communications channels.
- Experience using graphic design software, video editing and graphics editing (for example Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop).
