Dispenser

Portesham Surgery is looking for an experienced dispenser or pharmacy technician to join our team of 4 in our friendly rural GP practice on the coast road, 10 minutes from Chickerell, 15 minutes from Dorchester, 25 minutes from Bridport. The role is patient facing when the dispensary is open for collections (around 5 hours per day) with ample opportunity to get to know our regulars, give educational advice and assistance and problem solve. At other times you will be receiving and checking stock, issuing scripts, dispensing and checking them, preparing blister packs and assisting patients by telephone. You will also have regular contact with our clinical staff (doctors and nurses) as we all work together to keep our patients safe.

Shifts are normally 6 - 8 hours per day, covering the core hours of 8.30 to 6.30 pm weekdays only - no weekend working. We are looking for a minimum of 22 hours per week across 3 days but more hours might be available.

The successful applicant will have a minimum NVQ level 2 medicines counter assistant, NVQ level 2 dispensing assistant or similar.

The role will include processing prescription requests, dispensing and checking medication including controlled drugs and dosset boxes), ordering and receiving stock, collecting prescription charges.

As well as your dispensing or pharmacy experience you will need excellent communication skills and a good sense of humour as you will work closely with patients and other surgery staff to problem-solve and ensure that patients have excellent service.
