**Purpose of the job and its primary objectives**

**The post holder is responsible for leading the internal quality assurance of assessment processes for Hairdressing and Functional Skills by sampling, observing, monitoring, and advising on the practise of ITS personnel and in-salon assessors.**

**The primary objectives of the functional skills coordinator role are to develop and lead the company’s vision and approach for the delivery and assessment of Functional Skills. This will include monitoring delivery, leading and advising on staff development and learner outcomes, and leading external verifier visits.**

**The post holder will also support a small caseload of apprentices who are working towards levels 2 and 3 hairdressing apprenticeships and levels 1 and 2 Functional Skills in English and maths.**

**Frequent travel across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire is an integral part of the role.**

**Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice**

**Internally quality assure assessment processes and practice by observing assessors, carrying out interviews with assessors and apprentices, sampling evidence, collating CPD records, analysing data and auditing records.**

1.1 Upholding employer, learner and public credibility and respect for the qualifications being delivered.

1.2 Ensuring quality in all learning delivery and assessment according to company and awarding organisations requirements.

1.3 Ensuring assessors comply with the assessment strategy for the qualification they are assessing.

1.4 Ensuring the accuracy and consistency of assessment decisions between assessors operating in our centre.

1.5 Ensuring that assessors are consistent in their interpretation of the standards/outcome and criteria contained within the relevant qualifications.

1.6 Assessing and managing risk.

1.7 Monitoring the quality of training delivery and assessment for Hairdressing, English and maths.

1.8 Identifying issues and trends in assessment practice and escalate any concerns to the Curriculum Coordinator.

1.9 Attend monthly Delivery Team and PDT meetings.

1.10 Coordinate and lead IQA standardisation meetings and activities to ensure consistent practice throughout the delivery and ISA team including trainee assessors.

1.11 Engage the team in decision making taking on board suggestions and ideas, ensuring the loop is closed when the final decision is made.

1.12 Induct new and returning Trainer/Assessors and in-salon assessors (ISAs).

1.14 Arrange observation and support visits on a frequency commensurate with assessors’ risk ratings.

1.15 Write IQA reports and make them available to relevant personnel within an agreed timescale.

1.16 Ensure ISAs submit the required documents (CV, copy of certificates, proof of undertaking Prevent training etc.) to be eligible to assess/continue to assess on behalf of ITS.

1.17 Ensure Trainer/Assessors and ISAs complete a CPD record by the agreed deadline to evidence their continuing professional development.

1.18 Plan, organise and facilitate external quality assurance visits for Hairdressing and Functional Skills.

1.19 Complete centre updates to inform Awarding Organisations of any changes to delivery team as and when required.

**Coordination of Functional Skills**

2.1 Co-ordinate standardisation activities including sampling and disseminating best practice; ensuring and maintaining quality of provision, undertaking developmental observations and coordinating observations that are relevant to deep dive activity and improvements needed for maths and English.

2.2 Maintain a specialist level of knowledge of new developments in the functional skills curriculum, courses and teaching practices and course material, to meet the needs of all learners.

2.3 Observe and quality assure SLC (Speaking, Listening and Communication) teaching learning and assessment activity and co-ordinate and lead moderation and evaluation activities as a result of any improvements identified.

2.4 Design and develop staff training / workshops to continuously improve teaching and learning in English and maths.

2.5 Offer clear, consistent directives that ensure staff know your expectations for the delivery and assessment of Functional Skills provision.

2.6 Maintain records accurately both hard copy and electronic ensuring all evidence for all Awarding Organisation visits is readily available and accessible for audit and quality purposes.

2.7 Lead the curriculum design for the delivery of Functional Skills for learners who need to achieve a level 2 English/maths qualification.

2.8 Harness, embed and share best practice across the delivery team to promote innovative teaching and learning methods that engage and inspire learners.

2.9 Develop systems, processes and resources that support a consistent approach and the ongoing development of those delivering Functional Skills.
