This is exciting opportunity to maximise the delivery of community care and continue to improve access, as such you will need to be an exceptional leader who possesses vision and resilience. The portfolio will include District Nursing, Treatment Room, Bladder and Bowel, Lower Limb Vascular, Lymphedema as well as other integral services. You will be instrumental in the safe transfer of adult physical health services for Blackburn with Darwen into East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.

It is important that you can demonstrate insight and experience of multidisciplinary working and decision making at senior leadership level, be people focused, collaborative in the delivery of change and have an in-depth understanding and experience of quality. You will be a key member of the clinical and operational Senior Management Team in the CIC Division and be expected to form productive working relationships with key partners such as primary care.

Professional leadership will be integral to ensure consistency of practice and high standards of care putting the patient at the heart of everything that we do.

You will work closely with the Director of Nursing and Divisional Director of Operations to build on existing strengths, supporting the Trust Vision to ensure the very best system of care is provided through creative partnerships with patients, carers and staff.

Leadership

To provide visible and inspirational leadership to nurses, midwives and AHP staff in the division to ensure they are engaged and motivated to provide safe, personal and effective patient care in support of the aims of the Trust.

To ensure there is regular two way communication with staff enabling staff to feel engaged and involved with the services within which they work and to suggest ways in which services may be improved.

To foster a culture that promotes openness and where staff have the confidence to speak up in support of providing safe, personal and efficient patient care and services.

Line management of senior staff within the division in line with divisional structure ensuring that all nurses, midwives and AHP staff have clearly defined roles and are practicing in accordance with ELHT policies and the Code of Conduct prescribed by the relevant professional regulatory body.

Ensure that newly qualified nurses, midwives and AHP staff receive appropriate preceptorship and support to enable them to be effective healthcare professionals.

To actively encourage nursing research providing support and guidance as required. To ensure that nurses are contributing to research projects in line with the Trusts Reseach and Innovation Strategy and Priorities.

To support and develop line managers within the Division, to ensure consistency of leadership and accountability across the specialties.

Responsible for the planning and development of nursing services in line with the annual professional judgement review and the divisional strategy.

Deputise for the Divisional Director Nursing/Head of Midwifery, at appropriate assurance and business meetings, along with external regulators, dealing with highly complex situations and reports such as achieving KPI’s and managing service redesign.

Responsible for and work closely with matrons and ward leaders to improve workforce efficiency and compliance with ‘safer staffing’ standards.

Working in partnership with the divisional triad, alongside the deputy divisional director of operations create a compelling vision for the future of the division’s services ensuring nursing/AHP’s have an equal voice, along with ensuring health and wellbeing is promoted at all times.

Drive the patient safety agenda, set ambitious safety targets to continually improve the trust’s patient safety record.

Pro-actively lead the decision-making process, collecting and analysing information in order to make effective decisions in complex situations.

Develop a seamless service and collaborative culture across organisational boundaries to ensure achievement of Trust objectives, patient flow, particularly safe patient care

Reduce sickness levels within the division by embedding the trust’s health and wellbein
