**Job summary**:
The Office for Investment (OfI) is seeking an Investment Partner to represent Scotland’s Investment landscape on behalf of the UK government and to leading global investors.

Inward investment is crucial to the UK’s economic growth, bringing more jobs and helping us recover from COVID-19. The OfI is a joint 10 Downing Street and Department for International Trade unit reporting to the Minister for Investment and is building a presence across the UK to help level up the country through investment.

The Office was created to:

- Support high-value, high-impact private sector investment projects - increasing the likelihood that they will happen in the UK.
- Manage and improve UK Government’s relationships with the world’s biggest and most influential investors and Sovereign Wealth Funds.
- Promote the UK’s strategic policy objectives to investors with a view to attracting significant private capital.

Such investment is key to driving economic growth, jobs and innovation to all parts of the United Kingdom.

As an Investment Partner for Scotland, you will be responsible for securing high-value investment into Scotland both domestically and from across the globe. Investors will range from large corporates to sovereign and institutional funds and venture funds. You will be embedded in DIT Scotland and hold responsibility for representing the OfI to Scottish businesses and investors, working closely with the Scottish Government and other Scottish delivery partners.

We are looking for individuals with significant investment, commercial and relationship management experience and ideally with a broad commercial network. You may have experience in securing large investment deals and may come from a commercial or public sector background.

The role will require exceptional collaborative and communication skills and will expect you to build strong partner, client, local, devolved and UK government relationships. You will use these relationships to influence senior business leaders to champion the Scottish and wider UK investment environment, and make a compelling case for investments to land in Scotland.

The job holder will also be required to have the credibility to advise Ministers and senior leaders in UK Government on complex issues in a clear and concise manner.

**Job description**:
As an Investment Partner for the Office for Investment, you will be responsible for:

- Brokering investment deals to support government objectives and advocating a pro-business, investor-friendly environment across government.
- Representing Scotland in a leadership capacity for the OfI in Scotland, working closely with DIT colleagues and those from other Government departments, the Scottish Government and Scottish Development International, to land high value strategic investment for Scotland.
- Devising and delivering credible strategies for converting prospects into tangible investments.
- Providing expertise and advice on the local economy and investment landscape.
- Working across Scotland to ensure that investment opportunities are appropriately packaged and targeted persuasively to the right global investors.
- You will be embedded in DIT Scotland and work closely with existing DIT teams, including our network of overseas Trade Commissioners and industry sector teams, to promote investment opportunities Following-upto ensure that investments deliver ongoing economic value in the Scottish economy, and boost trade.

**Hybrid working**

The role will be based in Edinburgh.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.

**Essential Criteria**
- Aptitude for problem solving and an ability to represent the UK’s Investment environment to senior stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of the global investment landscape, and proven track record of facilitating investment into strategic and complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of the Scottish economy and a strong network within the Scottish trade and investment landscape.
- Possess highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills, with a track record of developing and maintaining effective relationships.
- Sound business acumen; a strong knowledge of various modes of investment, such as M&A
