This post will lead on the active forests programme, which provides engaging, inspirational, and motivating physical activity opportunities for new and existing visitors to Bedgebury.
- Bedgebury is home to the largest pinetum in the world and is important on a global scale for species conservation, scientific advancement, and the understanding of conifers. Its 130 hectares is recognised as a Grade II landscape and home to some increasingly rare flora and fauna in south east England.
- Bedgebury’s high quality visitor facilities, play offer, cycling trails, catering and a wide range of events make it a significant regional visitor attraction which welcomes 600,000 visits annually.**Job description**:

- Working in a small team you’ll organise and supervise the active forests programme based at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, near Tunbridge Wells in Kent. As Active Forests Co-ordinator you will plan a calendar of activities and events that inspire and motivate people to take part in physical activity.
- You’ll work proactively with programme providers, partners and contributors to deliver safe, efficient and effective activities and events throughout the year.
- You’ll collect data and observations to monitor outcomes and assess participation and opportunities for development.
- You’ll champion sustainability and health and safety.
- As part of your role, you’ll contribute to marketing and communications for the programme. Collaborating with the Bedgebury team you’ll help to create a safe, welcoming place for people to enjoy being active outdoors.
- Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest is cared for by Forestry England, part of the Forestry Commission. For over 100 years Forestry England has been growing, shaping and caring for over 1,500 of our nation’s forests for the enjoyment of all, for this generation and the next. We care for more land and trees than any other organisation in England. The Active Forests Programme is Forestry England’s programme focused on physical activity.
- The programme provides engaging, inspirational and motivating physical activity opportunities for new and existing forest visitors.
- The key aspects of the programme are delivered through:

- 1) Partnership and engagement
- 2) Communication
- 3) Monitoring and evaluation**Person specification**:

- To coordinate and deliver a wide range of physical activity and wellbeing experiences at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest.
- Key Work Areas:

- 1. Taking the lead from the Active Forests delivery strategy and the site delivery plan, develop & deliver:

- a. A programme of customer focused physical activity experiences.
- b. Active Forests programme marketing & communication activity.
- c. Site monitoring and evaluation of the programme.
- 2. Ensure the Active Forests programme is fully integrated into the Bedgebury offer and utilise local experience & knowledge by working closely with staff and volunteers.
- 3. Look after existing partners and develop a range of internal and external partnerships to benefit the programme and provide activities.
- 4. Where appropriate, develop and directly deliver activities.
- 5. In line with national & local guidance develop, introduce and coordinate a team of Active Forests volunteers to support delivery where appropriate.
- 6. Produce performance reports for Bedgebury’s Active Forests programme delivery.
- 7. Participate in Active Forests programme networking opportunities, representing Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest’s interests.
- 8. Where specified lead development of specific Active Forests programme activities e.g. Data capture techniques, use of social media, development of volunteer offer.
- 9. Support Bedgebury staff in related management activities to help meet site business objectives e.g. permission systems, health and safety, visitor information and income generation.
- Essential- Previous experience developing relationships and working effectively with partners.
- A proven track record of delivering customer focused activities.

Desirable- Experience working with Sport England, National Governing Bod
