**Job Purpose**
The Clinical Innovation Fellow (CIF) is a core member of the Digital Health Validation Lab (DHVL) team as well as the relevant clinical team based on the QEUH Campus.
DHVL activities will be focused on validating a range of digital health technologies in collaboration with academic and industry partners. This will include facilitating access to appropriate clinical expertise, helping formulate research protocols and successful delivery of projects across a range of clinical areas. The CIF will also be expected to engage with relevant R&I personnel to ensure successful delivery from projection inception to final reporting. The CIF will be supported by the DHVL operations team and will report to the SPM and academic PI.
Areas of current projects for example are
- Artificial intelligence for imaging interpretation
- Medical technologies for stroke characterization
- Case finding and optimization of risk stratification in Diabetes
- Orthopaedic Surgical planning using digital tools
- Respiratory device innovation for COPD care
Clinical activities will be in one clinical specialities in QEUH campus including Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine. You will play a fundamental role in the clinical team gaining experience in all aspects of the selected departments care pathways. The relevant clinical department will train you, develop your clinical skills and knowledge and help you achieve your future career goals. You will take part in a relevant education programme which will provide you with the core teaching and supervision similar to that of a clinical fellow / junior doctor rota. There will be the opportunity to attend and present at local and international meetings and to generate poster and publications aligned to innovation activity.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
The CIF will be responsible for the clinical project management and delivery of validations and will report on progress and deliver final reports to the DHVL operations team. The post-holder will also liaise with the study teams which will consist of companies or research groups. The CIF will take an active role in the PPIE activities of the DHVL and will be encouraged and supported to deliver innovative and effective patient and public engagement activities. They will be supported by the DHVL team (link) and have academic mentor identified.
1. Gain a comprehensive understanding of clinical workflow that the digital health technology is expected to operate within.
2. Proactively engage with clinical teams from a range of disciplines and be the first point of contact for clinicians and volunteers.
3. Develop clinical studies working with R&I teams to develop protocol, gain approvals and initiate study
4. Manage the recruitment of volunteers for trials and proactively work on measures to improve recruitment. With support from DHVL/LL operations teams and peers.
5. collaboration with appropriate experts e.g. statisticians, health economists, DHVL operation team members etc.
6. Maintain records and support the recording, monitoring and evaluation processes of the DHVL.
7. Prepare summary reports and present study results to the operations team, clinicians, researchers, innovators and wider audiences as required.
8. Support patient and public engagement activities. In conjunctions with DHVL communications teams
9. As a key member of the DHVL team, provide information that would support funding reports and presentations and present progress and updates to meetings with funders as required.
The Fellow will be encouraged to register for a higher degree (MD or PhD) as potential progression of the post.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

- A1 - MBChB or equivalent
- A2 - Applicants should have achieved foundation level competencies and have worked for at least 24 months within the NHS
- A3 - Full registration with General Medical Council & License to Practice
- A4 - Knowledge of UK clinical research legal and regulatory requirements
- A5 - Completed Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
- A6 - Knowledge of and understanding the NHS GGC R&D processes
- A7 - Should not hold a CCT or be within 6 months of CCT on intended start date

**_Desirable_**
- B1 - Post graduate examination ie MCRP / MRCEM / MRCS
- B2 - Peer reviewed publication
- B3 - Completion of CST / IMT or equivalent
