Financial Controller
- Reed is currently working with a reputable company based in the Torquay area, and we are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join their expanding team

The purpose of the role will be to monitor and report on the financial performance of the company and its subsidiaries, providing financial guidance, and developing and writing as necessary all policies and procedures to ensure the sound financial managementof the company’s business

The duties include but are not limited to:

- Deputise for Head of Finance/ Finance Director at Board meetings, Leadership Team, Council meetings and meetings with Shareholder representatives
- To act as deputy to the Head of Finance in leading the finance function to ensure that staff are appropriately motivated and developed and carry out their responsibilities to the required standard
- To assist with the financial component of Due Diligence on Target Companies and create integration plans for potential acquisitions, having regard to the tight timeframes and strict confidentiality requirements
- Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy, corporate structure, and treasury management.
- Ensure correctness of quarterly returns, including analysis of input VAT into deductible, mixed and non-deductible based on agreed criteria
- Develop and control the Group’s annual operating budget, monitor all financial targets, and make key remedial recommendations to ensure these are met and financial and statutory regulations complied with.
- Maintenance of the Group’s performance and risk management systems (including risk register).
- Oversee the preparation of the company's and the Group’s annual financial statements, liaising with the company’s auditors, to ensure that these are presented accurately and filed on time with tax Authorities and Companies House.
- Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company in support of current activities and future growth.

You will use your experience of problem-solving and innovation to create individually tailored plans for each acquisition as well as making decisions concerning annual targets.

The person will have:

- Ability to provide advice and recommendations at a strategic level and the persuasion and influence to ensure these recommendations are accepted
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- The ability to communicate effectively and ability to articulate complex financial issues both orally and in writing.
- High level of written and numerical skills.
- Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage, motivate and inspire staff to ensure key objectives and targets are met
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and meet conflicting demands.
