**Basic Scope and Primary Objectives**

Times Higher Education Student is looking for a new Content Writer to join our content team to grow the content we create and publish to serve the millions of students looking to pursue an international degree.

Times Higher Education is the leading global authority on university performance, and publisher of the THE World University Rankings. It has a global audience of many millions of students, seeking data, advice and support to help them choose a university and study programme. THE Student is looking for a Content Writer to commission, edit and create content for the website and social media platforms.

The Content Writer will sit within THE’s established and highly regarded editorial team that delivers news, analysis and comment pieces on global higher education. They’ll work with the Editor of THE Student to develop articles, videos and social media posts that appeal to prospective international students.

They will be full of innovative ideas about content formats that will appeal to a global student audience and will work directly with a range of teams including content, events and marketing to make THE the go-to source for international study advice.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Commissioning, editing, and writing articles that cover the international student experience from start to finish.
- Interviewing and building contacts within the higher education sector including universities, associations, and agencies.
- Developing and updating our most popular articles based on the World University Rankings
- Creating content for the THE Student social media channels and coming up with new ways to share our articles on social media
- Assisting the Editor to edit and upload content to the THE University Directory
- Ensuring that all content pieces are published to meet THE’s high editorial standards
- Pitching article ideas and ideas for content series to the Editor, based on the international student journey
- Occasionally representing THE Student at THE events
**Experience and Skills required**
- 2+ years experience in an editorial team either as an editorial assistant, editor, writer or reporter
- A fast learner with the ability to work to agreed deadlines and to work well under pressure
- Excellent planning and organisational skills to manage and prioritise workload
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including spelling, grammar and attention to detail, with the ability to tailor style and approach to suit a variety of global audiences
- Experience of commissioning, writing and editing articles
- An understanding of different social media platforms and how to adapt content for different platforms.
- Plus, but not required: basic video editing skills
