Shopkeeper

**Job Summary**:
The Shopkeeper is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining inventory levels, and upholding the overall cleanliness and organization of the store. They play a crucial role in promoting a positive shopping experience for customers while maximizing sales and revenue.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Customer Service:

- Greet customers as they enter the shop and provide assistance as needed.
- Answer customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, and availability.
- Assist customers in locating items within the store.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
- Process transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system.

2. Inventory Management:

- Receive and check incoming merchandise against purchase orders.
- Stock shelves and displays with products, ensuring proper labeling and pricing.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder merchandise as needed to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Rotate stock and manage expiry dates to minimize waste.

3. Store Maintenance:

- Ensure the shop is clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times.
- Perform regular cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
- Arrange displays and promotional materials to attract customers.
- Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs to the Shop Manager/Owner.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe shopping environment.

4. Compliance:

- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
- Follow cash handling procedures and maintain accurate records of transactions.
- Stay informed about product knowledge, pricing changes, and promotions.
- Complete required training programs and certifications as necessary.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in retail or customer service essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and inventory management.
- Basic math skills and proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £26,500.00-£28,000.00 per year
