AWE have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior Commercial Manager) to join our growing team.

The purpose of the role is to assess all costs relating to Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Rates and Activity Schedules on typically large and complex projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures, ensuring value for money.

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved in the development of typically higher value, complex contract cost models, ensuring these comply with the project brief, timescales, budget estimates, all relevant M&O contractual requirements, legislation,and regulations. You will also be involved in measuring, validating, recommending, and authorising monthly valuations / payments, capturing, and recording cost data. This includes keeping up to date on changes in the market and the competitive environmentin which the suppliers operate to enhance value for money.

Applicants must have previous experience supporting project teams in developing project procurement strategies and tender documentation. Ideally you will have experience of working at a similar level within a comparable organisation (MOD, Defence, Nuclear,Regulated) or industry. You will also have experience of:

- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited degree course, or a non-RICS degree with a post graduate conversion course
- Preparing and reviewing Works Information
- Pre-contract measurement and the production of cost plans and bills of quantities
- Influencing supplier negotiations
- Proven knowledge of contractual arrangements
- Validating payments, claims and final accounts against performance measures
- Ability to translate, analyse and communicate financial performance against contract progress
- Working with NEC Contracts
- Use of contract management tools e.g. CEMAR
- Managing conflicting priorities

Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area

Starting salary between £42,000 to £60,000 dependant on experience.
