- Posts will be based at Ainsdale National Nature Reserve, Sefton.

- Most work will take place from the appropriate office / reserve base at the above listed NNR, but the role may also require working on other NNRs across the local reserve group to gain wider conservation experience. Travel and overnight stays at Bridgewater & Taunton College in Somerset will also be required as part of the training programme.
- This Countryside Ranger Apprenticeship will involve working on the NNR (or a suite of NNRs as specified), supporting and completing tasks as agreed by the site management team to gain practical work experience. This role will include planning and delivering short
- and medium-term work programmes and small-scale projects. Apprentices will allocate resources, including staff and volunteers needed for the day-to-day management of delegated countryside sites, areas, or projects. They will carry out surveys and evaluation of the environment, produce reports, and liaise with a wide range of partnerships and the general public. They will demonstrate excellent health and safety, adhered to legislation, and set a high standard to other countryside users.
- Apprentices will undertake the Level 4 Countryside Ranger Apprenticeship Standard through Bridgewater & Taunton College and the individual will be expected to complete this by the end of the appointment.
- Qualifications / Eligibility
- To be eligible for this role you need:
- To be aspiring to a career in the conservation sector (new entrant or career change).
- Maths and English at minimum of Level 2.
- An accredited qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Confirmation of current vocational/specialist knowledge.
- IT skills or the willingness to develop IT skills.
- Evidence of the above must be collated prior to interview.
- A full driving licence is essential - If you are invited to interview you will be required to bring your driving licence with you.
- You must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in a career in nature conservation and commitment to completing the Level 4 Countryside Ranger Apprenticeship Standard.

**Responsibilities**:
- Undertaking practical habitat management tasks on nature reserves, including maintaining and installing fencing and gates, managing access trails and signs.
- Carrying out practical surveying and monitoring of habitats and species.
- Working alongside, and working towards leading, volunteers to complete practical management tasks.
- Work with reserve staff to manage and care for livestock.
- Assisting with planning and delivering public events and engagement activity.
