Hours: 07:15 - 15:45 or 13:00 - 22:00 (Set 3-week rota)
Must be able to work both shifts
Must be able to work 2 out 3 weekends.
Duration: Permanent
Area: Burton and Surrounding Areas
Pay: £21,000 - £23,200
Bonus: Extra £1500 pounds bonus paid over the year if you have a level 3 Health and social care qualification

**About the role**
We are working with multiple children’s residential homes and specialist residential SEND services across Burton and the surrounding areas. And we have multiple new roles available full-time and on a permanent basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience working with vulnerable children in the community. You will be a part of a child’s ongoing development and route to independence, you will be working with other professionals to help create a fun nurturing environment. There is nothing better than watching a child grow and develop into a young adult with the knowledge that you have been a large part of that ongoing development. You will not find a more rewarding role and one with great benefits.
**What does a typical day look like?**
It will all depend on the child that you are working with. You will help them get ready for the day and prepare breakfast. Then they may be able to go into class, you will work with them alongside a teaching assistant for the day. You may also take part in vocational activities like forest school or other outdoor activities depending on the child’s ability
As regards the late shift, you would help the child prepare tea and maybe read or get settled for the evening. Ready to hand over to the night staff.
Throughout the day and night, you will update their care plan and coordinate with other healthcare professionals depending on the day. You will offer emotional support and build a strong relationship of trust with the child in your care which will flourish over time.

Do I have to have experience with children?
No, you don't need lots of experience with children the most important thing is character and the ability to work hard to deliver the best care possible for the children in your care.
Do I need experience with special needs?
You don't need to have experience or training to work with special needs full training will be provided. The most important thing is that you show empathy and compassion for the children in your care.
Do I get a contract?
Yes, you get a full-time permanent contract once you have completed your 12-week probation period.
Do I have to work both the 07:15 to 15:45 and the 14:00 to 222:00 shifts?
Yes everyone has to be able to work a mixture of both shifts.
Do I have to work every weekend?
No, you only work two weekends in three.
Do I have to sleep over?
No, you don't have to do overnight stays in this role.
Do I have to have children in my car?
No, you don't have children in your car.
Will I be based at one site?
Yes, you will be based at one site.
Will I receive training?
Yes everyone starts by having a three-week paid induction where you will be trained and slowly introduced to the role. There is also ongoing refresher training.
Are there progression opportunities?
Put simply yes there will be for those who are willing and able.

You do not need experience to be shortlisted but it would be great if you did. The most important thing is to have a passion to make a difference in the lives of the children you work with and care for.
If you do not have experience don’t worry full training will be provided.
