**Job overview**:
You will be a qualified and HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist with experience of assessment and treatment procedures relevant to the adult Neuro Rehab caseload, including awareness of more specialist areas like ‘Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness’ (PDoC).

You will be passionate about Neuro Rehabilitation and creating a culture of continuous improvement, where patient centered care is at the heart of all you do.

**Main duties of the job**:
You will be able to; assess, set and review goals, devise rehab plans and support the discharge planning process for patients on the SLT caseload. You will have experience in supporting the capacity assessment and the best interest decision making process. You will support the wider therapy team in service provision and service development projects.

For SLT’s with established VFS/ FEES or trache competencies there will be opportunity to maintain and develop skills in joining and supporting the Salford rota's and potential for cross site working. The Floyd unit is in the process of developing a FEES service on site.

There will be regular access to support from the SLT team lead and the SLT Inpatient Neuro Rehab Lead.

**Desirable criteria**:

- RCSLT membership

**Qulaitfications**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Speech Therapy degree
- Completion of post graduate dysphagia training

**Desirable criteria**:

- Completion of relevant postgraduate courses in neuro/acquired brain injury
- Competencies in VFS and or FEES

**Knowledge and Skills**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Experience working in the NHS
- Experience independently managing complex communication impairment.
- Experience working in Neuro Rehab (or a similar rehab area) including management of people with acquired brain injury.
- Experience working in an MDT
- Understanding/ experience of the MCA and best interest process
- Experience of independently managing a dysphagia caseload.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Awareness of PDOC and relevant guidelines
- Evidence of motivation for ongoing learning in specialist area e.g. trache and PDOC
- Evidence of involvement in service development project
