**Location: Middleton Transfer Station (MTS) - Imperial Road, Morecambe, Nr Lancaster **LA3 3RW**

**Hours: 07:30am - 12:30pm Monday - Saturday ***

**14:30pm - 17:30pm Monday - Friday on alternate weeks**
**Qualifications**:
The post holder will be required to demonstrate the capability to gain relevant certificates of basic competence for the delivery of site operations including first aid.

Lancashire is the fourth largest local authority in England and covers a huge geographic area and a wide range of communities both urban and rural. Lancashire County Council manages over half a million tonnes of municipal waste each year. The council has a network of waste facilities which includes the direct operation of 16 household waste recycling centres and two waste transfer stations.

The Weighbridge Clerk will report directly to the Assistant Operations Manager, but will take day to day direction and instruction from the Transfer Station Supervisor and Operations Supervisor(s).

Post holders will be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out a range of tasks associated with the operation of a waste transfer station and be expected to follow a range of working procedures.

The main element of the role is the operation of weighbridge and the control of vehicles and personnel entering and exiting the facility. The Weighbridge Clerk will communicate with other staff to control the movement of vehicles within the facility to ensure its safe and efficient operation.

**Typical duties will include the following**:

- Day to day running of the weighbridge, weighing vehicles and inputting data and information.
- Ensuring that all site visitors are aware of and are adhering to site policies and procedures.
- General administrative duties associated with the operation of a weighbridge and transfer station.
- Ordering goods and consumables.
- Communicating and co-ordinating with other personnel and/or plant operators to facilitate a safe working environment for all site users
- Recording and reporting information.
- Ensuring the transfer stations are compliant with quality, environmental and health and safety standards.
- Ensuring that offices are kept clean and tidy
- Supporting wider aspects of the service and the council's waste network including the transport portal.
- Supporting the Transfer Station Supervisor in the delivery of aspects of his or her role that are commensurate to the grade of the post, routinely in their absence.

**Additional requirements**:

- The post holder will be required to work on Bank Holidays in rota.
- The post holder may be required to undertake basic competency qualifications.
- The post holder may be required to work at other operational facilities as required. In this event expenses will be paid for travel (where applicable) if the post holder provides their own transport. If not, the post holder may be required to take public transport during their normal working hours or transport may be arranged to transfer them to an alternative facility.

You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.

This position is part time, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent, the salary received will be paid on a pro-rata basis.
