Here at Serco we have a fantastic opportunity for a Sales Director to join our Growth function in what is an extremely exciting time to join the business as we evolve from being a government outsourcing provider to a true impact partner to Public Sector organisations globally. Within our Growth team, the Sales Director for our Employment and Skills business will have end to end responsibility for all formally identified ‘key deals’ across the opportunity lifecycle. They will develop, build and manage business relationships with existing and new customers, support the development of a refreshed proposition and go to market strategy whilst leading a team of business development and bidding professionals. This is a sector we anticipate will see significant growth and a real opportunity for a driven, ‘hands’ on Sales Director to truly make an impact.
Serco is investing to create a best-in-class vocational skills business. With new funding streams and an increased government commitment to adult learning, this is a key investment priority for Serco in the UK. We aim to be not just best in class as a training provider but also as a key part of propositions from the wider Serco and in supporting the training providers in the wider skills sector.
Already a major player employment sector (such as delivering Project Restart), we are looking to grow and broaden our proposition with an initial focus on the public sector employers. Alongside this, we have a full pipeline of deals to work on and will build a robust skills, employment and training delivery capability that will allow us to support major deals across the whole of Serco UK&E, from working for the MoD to the MoJ.
What you’ll need to do the role
- You will have significant experience selling into the sector and have a strong network within the employment and skills industry
- Demonstrable year on year ability to grow business sectors and reference significant wins
- Strong track record of delivering in complex and demanding environments
- Strong experience leading a team of business development professionals
- Will have deep experience selling into local government and public sector organisations
- Exceptional leadership qualities with evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and key business stakeholders
- Deep experience of government sales mechanisms (frameworks, ITT, competitive dialogues etc)
- Sound strategic thinker with the ability to operate with a hands
- on, pragmatic approach when required
