We are looking for Care Workers to join our team of difference makers in our Extra Care service in Penrhos, Caerphilly.
As a Care Worker you will feel the reward of building lasting and trusting relationships with those you support while working flexible hours that suit you.
We have 2 x 16 hour, part time permanent positions available. This service needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends and sleep in shifts as part of a rolling rota. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-11pm, with sleeps ins as extra.
*Due to the needs of the individuals we support in this service the post holder for this role is required to be female*
*Due to the needs of the individuals we support in this service, a full UK manual driving licence is required (You will be required to bring your UK driving licence with you to interview)*

**How can I make a difference?**
This service is the home of 49 residents with physical disabilities. As an Extra Care service, the individuals we support here are 55+and live in their own self-contained flat.
As a Care Worker you will take a person-centred approach with our valued residents to ensure they are living their life to the fullest. You will support with day-to-day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support and personal care.
The team understand that everyone is unique. Tailored care is designed to meet the individual needs and wishes of each resident at the home. Staff are highly trained and understand the importance of enabling people to keep control of their lives.

You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:
- Medication administration
- Cooking skills and other household skills
- Accessing the community and supporting to local groups
- Supporting with individuals’ hobbies and activities
- Being a team player and having good communication skills
- Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard
- Supporting individuals to budget finances
- Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing
- Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence.
- Taking the people we support out and about therefore a full driving licence is preferable
- Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties
- Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working.
- Supporting Individuals with their individual needs
**What skills and experience do you need?**
A background of working with older people with dementia is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are;
- A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible
- An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives
- A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player

To work in this role you’ll need to be registered with Social Care Wales. If you’re not already, that's no problem as we’ll help you do this as part of your recruitment process
An enhanced DBS check if required for this role, which we pay for.
We also pay time & half for all bank holidays except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day which will be double time. Midnight to midnight.
