**Job Title Nursery Practitioner**
**Reporting To Senior Practitioner / Room Leader**
**Scale / Salary Range / Contract Actual Salary £18,663.32 per annum (£22,259.00 FTE)**
**Maternity Cover (up to 12 months)**
**Full time (40 hours per week)**
**Term Time Only (39 weeks per year)**
**Core Purpose**
▪ To deliver the highest standards of care, support and challenge to the children at Smarties Nursery, resulting in: o To deliver child centred care that results in happy children and parents o To deliver of engaging learning for all children o To always work positively and respectfully as an individual and as part of the team
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
▪ To effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members).
▪ To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.
▪ Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
▪ To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day to day caring and early learning needs.
▪ To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.
▪ To advise the Nursery Manager/Deputy Nursery Manager of any concerns e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
▪ To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.
▪ To work alongside the Nursery Manager and staff team to ensure that the setting’s philosophy is fulfilled.
▪ To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
▪ To develop your role within the team, especially with regard to being a key person.
▪ To keep completely confidential, any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
▪ To be aware of the high profile of the setting, and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside of them.
▪ To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
▪ To undertake and lead on additional responsibilities such as SENCo, Training Co-ordinator, Safeguarding
Officer etc.
**Other Specific Duties**:
▪ Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons in all our academies
▪ Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
▪ Be aware of, support and ensure equal opportunities for all
▪ Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the Trust
▪ Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
▪ Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
▪ Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
▪ Perform any task or duty under the reasonable direction of line manager, Executive Team and Central
Team colleagues.

**Person Specification**
**KEY CRITERIA ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE**
**Qualifications Completion of a CWDC recognised full and ** Completion (or be working relevant Level 3 Childcare qualification, e.g. Level towards completion) of a
3 Diploma for the Children & Young People’s recognised Level 4 or 5
Workforce or NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, qualification
Learning and Development **Health & Safety certificate**
- Some understanding of the importance of Health **First Aid certificate**
& Safety and Food Hygiene in the workplace. SENCO training
- Completion of other relevant courses
**Skills, aptitude, Experience of working as a practitioner in a child**
**knowledge and **care setting
**experience A commitment to the provision of high-quality childcare with an interest in the care, learning**
