**The Role of the Kitchen Assistant**

This role is exceptional for someone trustworthy, reliable, and enthusiastic about developing existing skills in the world of Sports. The responsibility of a Kitchen Porter is to assist other kitchen staff, chefs, and cooks within the kitchen environment. The primary duties include basic food preparation, cleaning, shopping for supplies, equipment and organizing food and other items in the stockroom.

**Main Accountabilities**
- Cleaning and Sanitising all food preparation equipment, display areas and work surfaces
- Clearing, cleaning, and preparing all kitchen areas to ensure it is ready for next day
- Cleaning and maintaining display cooking and storage equipment, such as cookers, pots, fridges
- Deep cleaning fridges and storerooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards
- Maintain the storeroom organised
- Receiving deliveries and organising in designated storage areas
- Supporting the chefs in basic food preparation as instructed (cutting, peeling, washing)
- Assisting other kitchen staff, cooks, managers and supervisors as needed
- Replenishing condiments, keeping dining area clean and tidy
- Removing kitchen waste from waste containers and disposing of them properly
- Ensuring all equipment is clean and put away correctly
- Keep work surfaces, walls, and floors clean and sanitized

**General Club Accountabilities**
- To ensure compliance with all relevant Club policies, including health and safety policies and with specific reference to the data regulations (GDPR and PECR)
- To ensure compliance with all Club and regulatory requirements related to safeguarding, and to ensure the Club’s safeguarding processes are followed in the event of any safeguarding concerns.
- To ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements
- To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally, maintaining a professional image at all times when representing Brentford FC
- To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel
- To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times

**Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics**
- Awareness of Control Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
- Experience of food handling and usage of kitchen equipment
- Previous exposure and responsibility to Health and Safety and Food Safety Standards
- A self-starter with a high level of initiative and proactivity
- Great communication skills with an ability to motivate others
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Quick learner and able to follow instructions
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to work well as part of a team

**Person Specification - Desirable Characteristics**
- Previous experience of working in a similar environment is desirable but not essential
