**Job Purpose**

The role of the Buyer (Indirects) is:

- To source goods and services at the lowest total cost of ownership.
- To support the development and implementation of the Indirects category sourcing strategies.
- To ensure goods and services are sourced responsibly in line with regulatory, ethical, technical, sustainability and customer requirements.

**Dimensions**
- External contacts - Suppliers & Customers.
- Internal contacts - Commercial, Sales, Finance, Corporate Relations, Operations, Planning, Technical, Innovation and Project Management.
- Travel will be required in this role.

**Principal Accountabilities**
- Facilitate the purchase of goods and services through requirements clarification, soliciting bids, evaluating quotations, negotiation of prices, selection of suppliers, onboarding and qualification.
- Consider impact on working capital, for example supplier stockholding, lead times, factory utilisation, so as to optimise total cost.
- Determination and control of budget costs and monitoring/reporting on price variances. Subsequent communication of cost movements to the business to ensure control of margin.
- Control of currency requirements in line with Princes policies.
- Play a key role in the development of Indirects category sourcing strategies including value chain mapping, business requirements gathering, spend analysis, research, cost modelling, supporting the identification and delivery of opportunities that deliver value and mitigate risk.
- Contribute towards total cost of ownership models for Indirects categories.
- Monitoring data on market movements and determination of consequences for the appropriate SBA, communication of corrective action requirements.
- Liaison with Technical and Operations as appropriate on approval of supply chain expediently.
- Manage contracts professionally and accurately.
- Ensure conformance of department to relevant ISO standards where appropriate.
- Responsibility for the maintenance of SAP and accurate, up to date buying data and supply of data to the finance team. Maintenance and review of standard costs.
- Seek and recommend opportunities to drive improvements in security of supply or to generate cost savings/cost avoidance.
- Participation in cross-functional project teams to support driving maximum commercial benefit.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure Group Technical, Ethical and Sustainability guidelines are met at all times.
- Champion and support the creation, development and implementation of procurement processes to drive positive change and demonstrable benefit.
- Act as an ambassador for the department through positive behaviour, engagement and a desire to affect change.

**Qualifications/ Knowledge/ Experience**
- Previous procurement experience - Essential
- Thorough understanding of procurement processes and frameworks - Essential
- Strong knowledge of Indirects, ideally gained within industry - Essential
- SAP analytics and reporting - Desired
- Degree level qualification, ideally business related - Desired
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Essential
- SAP knowledge and experience - Desired
- CIPS foundation level purchasing and supply - Desired
